Cue the music, put on your fedora and grab your whip, as the most iconic archaeologist is back. Lego Indiana Jones follows Dr.Jones's adventures through the original trilogy and the last instalment - Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Now before you can say "hasn't this been done already?", which was exactly what I said to Activision at Gamescom'09, the answer is yes but where you might have seen a cut-scene in the first Lego Indiana, this time you get to play.

Gameplay:

Indy 2 (the title is just too long to type every time) has a staggering six open play areas, each with 5 main story adventures as well as 10 bonus levels. On top of that, you have the Lego Creator with which you can customise characters and edit any level you have already played though. Not stopping there, you can also build your own adventure with the help of the tutorials. As you explore the open levels, you are able to purchase (unlock) new characters and vehicles. These additions are needed for the bonus levels and races. In fact, everything you do builds towards you gaining a treasure chest. The game still contains the unique tongue-in-cheek humour which you associate with Lego with many in-house jokes aimed at Lucasarts, you will know what they are when they appear.

Once again, you are able to play Indy in co-op but not on LIVE. The co-op has been designed so that each player is not tethered. This means that both players can go in opposite directions and do what they like without the screen stopping, so as the players move away, the screen will split in half, and as they come back within view, the screen merges seamlessly.

Another feature that is different from the first Indy adventure is the replay of levels in Open Play. For example, the diner scene in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull part 1 in Story mode pits you fighting against everyone, whilst in Open Play or Treasure mode you will have to solve a puzzle to complete it. This can be found throughout the game.

Graphics:

Each Lego character is portrayed in fine detail and looks fantastic. The scenery is colourful, beautiful and to top it all off, it's destructive. Each vehicle moves at a pace you would expect, so you wouldn’t see an Ice Cream van overtake a Hot rod. The cut scenes are full of humour, so it's a pleasure to watch them.

Sound:

Lego people don't speak, they just hmm, ahhhh and grunt but this is all made up for by the fantastic score of all of the films. The usual array of sounds are present such as guns, explosions and hissing snakes !!

Longevity:

If you only want to complete the story mode, than you can finish all 30 levels in less than 8 hours but then you would be missing out on the 60 bonus / treasure levels, not to mention claiming the 'True Adventurer' for all 15 missions per chapter. Even if that wasn't enough to keep you occupied, than how about design your own adventure. Last but not least, co-op mode.

Overall:

Indy 2 is well worth the money. Lego is fun, Indiana Jones is fun and if you put them together you get nothing but FUN FUN FUN !! It's a shame that there is no Live Co-op and that to me is the only disappointment this game has or in this case has not got to offer.
