The Rock Band experience is not new as this franchise has been going for some time and what better way to make it more fun by merging it with Lego. If you have ever played any of the Lego games, than you will know that Lego has a unique sense of humour which can be seen throughout this game. So, what makes this different from all other Rock Bands?

Gameplay:

Let's start off by stating this game is aimed towards the entire family, which means the track list is suitable for all ages filled with classic tunes right through to more up to date artists such as Pink. Of course, this game wouldn’t be Rock Band without being able to access downloadable content. At the beginning of your Lego Rock Band career, you must create your own unique rock star and like most budding artists, you start of busking in the subway. After each set, which can be more than one song, you are awarded with Lego Studs and an ever increasing Fan Base. As you continue to accumulate studs, you can use them to purchase new characters, scenery and instruments allowing you further customisation of your band, entourage and your Rock Den.

Progression during the game involves buying new vehicles that in turn unlock new venues so I suggest you don't spend all of your Lego studs in one mad bout otherwise you could be stuck playing the same songs over and over. During your career, you are presented with Rock Power Challenges and this is where the Lego humour kicks in. The first of many challenges sees your band being hired to demolish a building because your music is so loud; it can literally bring the house down. All of the challenges once unlocked can be replayed in the den in case you are in need of some extra studs.

Onto a negative note, I did find that the track list is quite small compared to other games of this genre and you regularly end up playing the same song over and over again but for different challenges. This repetitiveness should have been avoided.

Graphics:

Lego is the name and Lego is what you see, everything from Band members to Deep Sea animals are created in fine detail and have a very polished look. There are special guest appearances (in Lego form) of famous artists including David Bowie and Queen. The cut scenes are funny enough to keep you interested in watching them instead of skipping ahead to the song.

Sound:

If you like the song you are about to play, than it sounds great, if you don't, well than I suggest just play it once and move on. Lego.

Longevity:

This game will last as long as you want as some songs never get old to hear. There are several levels of difficulty ranging from Super Easy to Expert which if you are like me, after Medium, I feel like I need another pair of hands.

Overall:

I do like the Lego aspect of this game; it makes it stand out from the other Rock Bands (except perhaps The Beatles). The music selection is great and the rock challenges are fun. This is well worth a buy and will make a welcome addition to the already vast Rock / Guitar catalogue.
