Smash TV is a 1990 hit arcade game created by Eugene Jarvis. Home versions were developed for various platforms, and now the hit arcade game is available for Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade. Revisit the classic arcade game Smash TV. Now for the first time ever with the Co-Op game mode, which can be played offline with two controllers or online with Xbox Live.
Gameplay
The gameplay is quite basic, but that's not a bad thing with this game; as there are loads of enemies after you all at once, so the gameplay needs to be consistant. You control your character with the left and right analogue sticks, the left analogue stick is for movement and the right analogue stick fires your weapon. There are also plenty of power-ups and weapons throughout the game which help you along your way.
Graphics
Now the graphics aren't exactly the best you'll see. But just remember this is a classic arcade game, so that's to be expected. The animations look OK, considering at times there can be about twenty enemies on screen at once swinging baseball bats at you. There are also four bosses throughout ten levels; the animations on the bosses are quite good, you can be shooting them for ages then finally you'll see bits of armour falling off.
Sound
The sound suits the game very well. There's a sort of cheeky element to it, like a guy will pop up every so often (with two hot girl's on either arm) and come out with silly catchphrases i.e. "good luck, you'll need it!" and "I'll buy that for a dollar".
There's only really one soundtrack through the whole game, though it does vary on different levels, but it's more of a remix. As you pick-up power-ups and prizes through the game you will shout out things like "Yeah!" and "Woohoo!". The sound effects from the weapons are also convincing enough.
Longevity
It's not really a game you'll be playing all the time. It's one of those pick up and play games when your bored and have nothing else to play. It's easy and it's fun. Sadly there are only 10 levels throughout the game, though all can be played with a co-op partner; both offline and online with Xbox Live - which is a blast.
Overall
This one is worth the dosh for the download. Quick bursts of fun to keep you entertained; get one of your mates online as a co-op partner as well, and things can only get more crazy and fun. Smash TV is available to download now from the Xbox Live Arcade and costs 400 credits. There is also a free trial version available to download.
