You don't say...big business expected of Modern Warfare 2
Bookmark and Share

As the released of Activision's Modern Warfare 2 looms Chief Executive Officer Bobby Kotick has gone on record to state that the game could "surpass the top films of 2009". With analysts predicting revenue in excess of $500 million in its first week of sale the expectation is warranted.

GTA IV garnered around $500 million (6 million sales) in it's first week as a multiplatform title and there's no reason that Modern Warfare 2 can surpass that figure considering the huge rise in console owners since GTA IV launched earlier this year. It has been predicted that the game will ship around 7.8 million in its first week. In comparison this years biggest box office movie worldwide, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” had box office sales of $929 million... This is big business for Activision and shares in the company are already rising as anticipation grows.
