Metal Arms Glitch In The System Review:

Every war has a hero !! Sounds familiar, doesn’t it ? You are Glitch, the gun-slinging, enemy crushing half-ton menacing bot of Droid City on the planet Iron Star. Found lying among the wreckage, nearly drained of all life, you were taken in for repairs by the Droid Resistance and finally brought online just in time to help out and stop the evil General Corrosive.

As with most games, you have a sort of training in the first mission but unlike most games, it is part of the plot. You start of with your basic mining laser as your primary weapon and a handful of explosives as your secondary weapon but as you progress during the game, you come across other deadly weapons and more secondary weapons which can do more damage than just blow things up. In total there are 18 weapons to dismantle the militia – literally piece by piece !! Of course no weapon would be complete unless you can buy upgrades. As you destroy the enemy, some of them might explode and leave ‘washers’. These rings are used as your currency with which to buy upgrades when you come across two dodgy robot dealers.

As you battle above, below and on planet Iron Star, not everything is just aim and shoot. You will have to sneak, snipe and puzzle solve your way through. The main feature that I particular liked was the comedy inside this game. You can shoot the arms, legs and heads off enemy robots bit by bit and watch them walk around whilst you continue with your destructive mission but if that is not to your liking, than you could always unleash one of your weapons which allows you to posses and take control of them, or turn them into allies. Along with your weapons, there is a multitude of vehicles for you to use including a battle tank and some sort of flyer / hover craft.

During the game you might come across ‘secret chips’. Finding these will allow you to open up multiplayer levels which are a fantastic addition to an already great game. Play against your mates or just go against the AI bots in several different modes ranging from Deathmatch to Capture the Flag.

The controls are exactly the same as Halo (which most xbox owners own) so movement around the game feels natural but you can always customise them to your taste.

Graphics:

The graphics and sound are top notch and one should not consider this game to be aimed at kids. There are six unique environments with over 50 missions and each one are detailed to perfection. There are no faults or glitches (no pun intended

Sound:

The background music is just right to set the tone and not too loud to get in the way of playing the game. The way the robots move and scream when they are being shot at, is superb and bring a comedic feature to it. In fact, if someone was just listening to the game, they might have thought you were playing Worms. It’s that funny !!

Longevity:

The game does not use a life based system, so you can keep going and going until you decide to switch off the game. This is not such a bad thing as some levels are quite hard on the normal level and you would have to rethink your strategy before going in with all guns shooting. There are several levels of difficulty to satisfy everyone’s standards as well as the multi-player feature. It is a shame that it is not LIVE as this would have increased it longevity ten-fold but don’t let that put you off as there are many hours of fun to be had.

Round Up:

This is one of those games that will surprise you and make you think….I’m glad I bought that game. It would be a superb addition to your collection but if you don’t believe me, go hire it out first.

Round Up:
Over 50 missions which can be played to your own style.

Pros:

  • Possession of enemy robots and vehicles.

    Cons:

    • Not LIVE.
