Crimson Skies High Road to Revenge Review:

Gameplay: Of course, like any other flying game it takes time to get used to it. The controls are flexible as you can choose whether or not you want inverted controls and you get some other little tweaks in there but I left it as default because the controls are great. You can do tons of tricks with your plane that you learn at the beginning of the game but you'll still be figuring out some new ones as you play. The tricks are easy to pull off since most of them need you to do something with the left and right thumbstick. But you'll have to watch the fuel on your plane or you'll get in serious trouble when enemies come by. The Single Player campaign is great too mainly because it is free roaming around certain islands. So far every time I have played the single player mode I couldn't resist from just flying around, but you can also get side quests from other people or you can choose to follow the main quest. At the beginning of the game you only have one plane but as you go along you will unlock many more with certain attributes to them such as speed, defense, and fire power. You have lots of space to play in as there are no invisible walls but if you go too far as I did you will get a message saying your too far away from the missions but that was after I was going straight up for about two minutes. The game is very much an arcadey flight game as anyone can come and get the hang of the controls within minutes or they could just tweak it themselves. So far the gameplay is everything I wanted it to be and I've done enough to know that the developers have made this game a blast to play.

Graphics: From the opening cinematic you could tell that this game is beautiful. Everyone in the game looks life like especially the main character. If you remember MechAssault's great graphics, well add even more detail to that and you got Crimson Skies. The cities you fly around are also well designed, they have so many different colors and people that its like one virtual living breathing world. The mountains and cloud look amazing especially when your on top of them. Every single plane in the game is very detailed and represent the life style of the 1930's. The water also looks amazing, when you fly by the water it splashes over your screen and I would say its the best but then I think about the water in Quantam Redshift and that's what water should look like. But other than that the graphics are jaw-dropping just like every other Microsoft game.

Sound: Crimson Skies has the BEST voices in a game EVER. Not only that but the character are all lip-sinked to the voices perfectly. The plane's engine also sounds great mainly when your about to die and your whole plane is falling apart you could hear the engine rumbling. Also try running the plane into the water or mountain then listen to the sound... its just amazing. The weapons also make great sounds when fired especially the machine guns when they're whipping by you... or even on you. I'm going to give the sound a 10 mainly because I don't pay that much attention to the sounds in every game and the sounds in this game don't have any problems according to me.

Replay Value: Well if you ever decide to stop playing the single player mode which is very addicting, then you got Xbox Live. I've been playing Xbox Live and it's as addicting if not even more addicting than the single player mode especially with friends. The only thing better than shooting down an enemy and watching them fall is shooting down a friend and watching them fall. Along with Xbox Live you get downloadable content... and we're getting a lot, just look at MechAssault's downloads because this game is done by the same people so expect the same nice downloads. I've been waiting for this type of game online, MechAssault seemed like it would be a great action shooter but it got too boring way too fast, this game improves on every thing MechAssault did wrong and also gives you wings to fly as high as you want! 10/10

Overall: Microsoft has done it again, they've successfully added another title to the great Xbox and Xbox Live game list. Playing this game offline is great but it gets even better on Xbox Live. Anybody with an xbox right now owes it to themselves to get this game especially if you have Xbox Live. I could tell people will be talking about this game long after Halo 2 comes out because it's one of those great games that comes out and starts a whole new trend in gaming... perfection and polish. I have played many airplane shooters and this is by far the best one, for beginners this is the perfect way for you to get used to the genre because it welcomes new people to airplane games and veterans.
