Madden NFL 2002 Review:

Madden, what is there to say? This franchise has produced, without a doubt, the best football games ever created until the Xbox came into the picture. Before the Xbox Madden games were always better than any other football game created. It had great graphics, more depth, and most of all it was addicting. But now Madden 2002 is just a port from the weaker Playstation 2 system. Some points in the gameplay have been improved like the grass and other details, but what gets me are the player models. They are jaggy, and sometimes the players decide to give each other surgery by digging their hands into their opponent's bodies. Some of these details could have been worked out and Madden 2002 should have been made to take advantage of the Xbox's special features. Despite these little glitches Madden 2002 is still one of the best football games available.

The gameplay is almost perfect. No more easy 80-yard passes, the AI has become smarter and will not allow for so many easy passes, unlike last year's version. The running game is absolutely amazing. It is so much more fun to run the ball in Madden 2002. Just look for the open holes and follow your blockers and you may have a big run on your hands. On defense, watch out for the AI because it has the ability to make some big time plays.

Madden 2002 comes with many features to keep gamers entertained for hours. Madden 2002 includes the usual Franchise mode and Madden Cards, but in 2002 it includes Training mode and Two Minute Drill. Training mode will help many gamers understand the plays and formations used in Madden 2002. It walks gamers through many key plays and grades you on how well you execute them. The Two Minute Drill allows gamers to practice their fourth quarter skill when losing and with two minutes on the clock. This drill will come in handy when playing in your season or franchise and your down in the fourth quarter.

Too some it all up, Madden 2002 is a great game and will not let any football fan down. It is just a disappointment to see all the Xbox's power and features not fully used in this very addictive game. With the thirty-year franchise mode and player progression this game will keep the most hard-core gamer entertained for hours, maybe even months.

Final Word

Graphics

? Great Graphics but it looks too much like the PS2 and models need to be clearer. So good looks like your watching a real football game on TV

Sound
? Great sound especially the hard hits on the cool three-view replay. Surround Sound is a must to fully enjoy the sounds. Commentary needs work.

Good
? More Depth than any other football game
? Looks like a real football game
? Replay is amazing

Bad?It's a PS2 port
? Doesn't take advantage of the Xbox's features
? Players sometimes loser their hand in bodies
? Commentary is repetitive
