Tiger Woods 2003 Review:

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 is a big improvement from 2002 on Playstation 2, and it’s very fun to play even though there are a few flaws, which will be mentioned. There are many more options on how you want to play your game this time around also. For example, in the options menu, you can now change the difficulty level of your game, and turn the caddy tips off if you want to. There are not only the real players on the PGA, but well-thought-out fictional characters, many of which you will get a good laugh out of once you see them. And once you beat them in the Tiger Challenge, you can change your skin to the player you just beat.

Tiger Challenges are the main part of the game, and there are a lot more of them now, which start out easy, and get harder as you skill level get better and you earn more money to buy attributes. This is good for players new to the series and still fun for people who have the previous versions of Tiger Woods. Not only do you play other players on the tour in the Tiger Challenge, but you also must participate in various other things such as tournaments and skins games to advance and make your way to face the Tiger, your ultimate goal. A lot of the times in skins games and when playing other people, you only play 9 holes, which is a relief from playing all 18 holes every time.

Now there are many more things to do beside the Tiger Challenge, such as the 50 scenarios to get either a bronze, silver, or gold medal in. Scenarios are different short challenges to participate in which can be getting a certain score on four par 3 holes, making three very long putts, or playing a couple holes in bad weather conditions and trying to score low. That isn’t all though. The 50 scenarios offer a great variety to have fun with. It’s also good to earn some extra money from to raise you’re attributes if you’re having trouble beating someone in the Tiger Challenge.

Newly introduced in this game is the skill zone, where you go to one of three different areas to choose from and shoot at the various targets from the tee-box. The closer you get to the center of the target, the more money you get. While this is very fun, you get little money for it, so it is useless if that’s what you’re trying to get. But if you want to have a fun, short two-player game, then this is the game for you.

Another thing that makes this game more fun is the pro shop. As you get you’re attributes higher, you get better shafts, balls, gloves, and more.

There are courses that you play which are real, and fantasy courses that are very well made-up and are fun to play on. And as you progress through the Tiger challenge, you keep unlocking holes of Tiger’s Dream 18, the ultimate of fantasy courses. Let’s just say that you’ll be amazed when you first play it.

Another way to earn big bucks is competing in tournaments against other PGA golfers. You unlock harder ones as you move through the game and you can earn a lot of money from these later ones. But the last few are 4 rounds, which even though is regulation, that’s a little long to play in one sitting in my opinion. Even though this is a great game, there are some flaws in it. Here is a list of them:

•The caddy tips for putting are often not accurate. Many times it has told me to aim short, but just to prove it wrong, I aim long, and it is still short. But it seems as if the only problem with this is the short/long recommendations, not the left/right ones.
•When playing in a skins match against three other people in Tiger Challenge mode, it takes an awfully long time for all three of the other people to hit the ball. And you have to watch them take every shot. It would be nice if there was an option to just play the round, and they show you the scores the other players got after the hole.

Those are the two major flaws, and even with those, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 is super-fun and has high replay-value. So if you’re a golfer and you have Xbox, then what are you waiting for? Get this!
