Since Sega have moved on from the now obsolete Dreamcast they've have done nothing but produce excellent games, I mean just take look at Jet Set Radio Future, it's awesome and I think there's a crowd of people that will agree with me on that.
GunValkyrie is set to continue Sega's winning streak of games, GunValkyrie is set in the future and you are part of a government funded organization called GunValkyrie strangely enough. You are responding to a distress call recently received from the planet Tir na Nog, a world purely dominated by insects. As you approach the planet your suspicions are high that this is the work of Dr. Hebble Gate, a lone scientist whose technological breakthroughs may have accelerated beyond his control and now it's your job to wipe out the threat and restore order to this now over populated insectoid planet. Problem is these insect like beings aren't going to go down without a fight and wiping a planet full of a species is a hard enough job in itself. So the main objective in the game is to unravel the truth, wipe out the threat, retrieve the scientist and restore order to the world by force in the 10 levels that have been included so far.
So we're looking at gameplay similar to that of space invaders, in 3D and with all of the Xboxes mod cons. These range from huge environments filled with atmospheric hazards and intense enemies to an amazingly high-polygon count only viable through Xbox. A very dynamic and useful feature in Gun Valkyrie is the fact that Sega have implemented a special control system: the two analogue sticks allow you to run in one direction whilst gunning enemies down all around you at the same time, which is quite useful if you're about to be massacred by a load of giant grasshoppers! GunValkyrie will include at least 6 different types of customizable weaponry some including the likes of the Plasma hook, the blaster or the drive gun all of which sound quite interesting to use for added gore factor. The graphics have been thoroughly impressive in GunValkyrie, Sega have allowed large numbers of aliens, weapons and destruction effects on screen at the same time. Not only that but the graphics have a special effect called "Japanimation" that brings out the many 'shading' effects that the Xbox allows.
As far as shooter games go this follows on as second best to Halo at the moment. Sega have included a good plot, incredible graphical ability and gameplay worth 40 quid and the game seems so action packed, this is a game on my 'buy it' list for sure!
