Spiderman The Movie Preview:
Spiderman has had a couple of previous outings on various consoles, but this time he's back on X-Box. This version of the game is called Spider-Man: The Movie because it is based on the upcoming movie starring Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe(due for release in May 2002), but the name could be up to change in the near future.
Like the previous games you play Spider-Man, but this time you are in the high-swingin ’web-slingin’ world of New York and have come to embark on a career of thwarting crime and to battle the evil presence of the mastermind criminal, the Green Goblin, and his legions of evil. The plot of the game is the same of the film, which is good because the gameplay will be reflecting the plot of the film. As this is the newest game in the set of Spider man games the super hero himself has been treated to an array of new abilities apart from the regular climbing up walls and spin webs, but now there is a new aerial combat system. The game now gives you the ability to fight evil high above, below, and throughout New York City in dizzying battles to say the least. Maneuvering around the big city is now easier; in-air control allows the player to swing and crawl anywhere to look for trouble. It's possible to rise and descend while swinging, bank around building, cut web-lines for sudden drops and zip-line to buildings to avoid danger. The game has a new combat system too, which will allow you to serve justice to new characters such as Shocker, Vulture, Scorpion and experimental HK units compliments of OSCORP INDUSTRIES.
So the game is set to carry on its winning line of SpiderMan games that have been very successful recently. Definitely an interesting game for fans of the movie or SpiderMan fans but I get the feeling that TreyArch are putting the old SpiderMan games in a new and different form, we'll have to see what they come up with.
