Tony Hawks 3 aggghh, well unless you are new to the world of games you should be familiar with the Tony Hawks series of games which revolutionised the extreme sports games market back on the Sony Playstation, so much has changed since the original and spin offs with titles such as Dave Mirra’s BMX following the now proven formula of the Tony Hawk series.
Now welcome the series to what is now truly next gen gaming consoles, Tony Hawks 3 has been developed for all 3 major consoles but it must be said that the Xbox players will be receiving what is truly the best version of the game. Offering not only amazingly detailed and huge levels but also the obvious graphical, audio and gameplay improvements, this is without doubt shaping up to be the greatest outing for Tony yet.
New to Tony Hawks 3 are features which include a much higher level of interaction, in TH3 people vehicles and such like are all over the place and all of them you are capable of interacting with, also rather than spending money on improving your stats like in previous versions you must now scour each level in search of stat point tokens, each token allows you to improve a selected skill by one point. Whilst at a quick glance at available screenshots etc TH3 may not look amazingly different from previous versions it could be said that the guys at Neversoft had got it pretty much right in the fist place, Don’t be fooled, TH3 is not yet another sequel.
TH3 nine levels all of which are on average twice if not bigger than any level in previous versions, so although nine levels may not seem that many the scale of each level more than makes up for it, Neversoft claim that you will have even more freedom and control over your character and controls is something they have paid particular detail to making it even easier to pull of combos and included a clever revert move, all in all a great deal of refinement over what could have been argued an already superb control system.
Lets not forget the Skater and Skater park creator, in TH3 players will be able to change every detail of there Skater, and in the Park creator section this has been improved to make it seem more like an actual Skate park rather than an bunch of ramps dumped into a bit of concrete as in TH2.
All in all TH3 is by far the most refined and simply the best version of the game to date, the lord only knows what the guys have up their sleeves for TH4. Both fans of the series and newcomers will not be disappointed and well have to endure many many hours of gaming pleasure from the God of Extreme Sports Games and now set to be crowned king of the hill Tony Hawks 3.
Levels:
• The Foundry
The Foundry will be your welcoming level into the world of TH3, it could be said that skating this close to near liquid metal is asking for trouble but not in TH3 (unless you happen to fall in of course) This level has been designed to welcome you and enable you to get the hang of the controls and busting some pretty big moves, use this fairly small level to get used to controlling your board and Canada level awaits….
• Canada
Well Skating does take place North of the boarder but as for the crop trousers and baggy T-Shirt in Canada you may have to wrap up a bit. As you move from the scalding heat of the Foundry into the freezing conditions that await you in Canada you will find the levels are now growing in size and Canada offer an ideal location, with plenty of quarter-pipes grinds and such like you will soon find yourselves feeling right at home in the icy climate.
• Suburbia
Welcome to Suburbia. Suburbia is set in small town America and to most Skaters state side should feel familiar, littered with ramps grinds and other Skaters Suburbia is literally huge and comes complete with a scary mansion to explore along with the trailer park found over in the suburbs, offering an ideal place to reek havoc
• The Airport
Aggghh the Airport, Bounce grind and flip your way off the wing of a 747, ok so this is technically not such a common location for Skating but TH3 is not normal, grind down the rotor blades of conveniently placed helicopters or along the baggage collection belt and avoid those security guards for success in the Airport, another feature of this level is the pick pockets and you’re the only one who can stop them, Smack them in the head with your board and you wallets safe….
• Los Angeles, The Cruise Ship & Beat the Competition Levels.... well not wanting to spoil all your fun i think I'll leave these levels to your imagination.... emmmmm
