Circus Maximus Preview:
Braking the mould of the normal Racing Game, by releasing the first ever chariot racing game. Where the game brakes the mould the most though is the mixture of two Genre's in the mix are Racing and Fighting, "What a Combo" Circus maximus as you would expect is set back in Roman Times, When the Roman Empire was all great and mighty, you take on the role of one of the Kings slaves, you find yourself and a friend strapped to a chariot and sent into the cauldron where you will need to race and fight your way through the bone cracking events that await you.

Survival will not be easy, and you will need to have your wits about you as you will be required to master both combat and racing skills to achieve victory and ultimately freedom. Initially the player will be required to prove there worth and will start off in the cold depths of Germania and build up to the great Circus Maximus arena in the heart of ancient Rome. At present details are still very thin but the game will combine two game play type which will increase the re-play value of the title, the player will be able to either control the gladiator (passenger) which will require the warrior to defend the chariot or the driver who will control the chariot destination and guide the chariot through the course to safety.

At this time there are no details of a two or four player mode, and if players will be able too in two player mode be able to have one control the chariot and one defend. This would be a welcome inclusion and again would add to the re-play value of the title. We will keep you posted right here. Circus Maximus F.A.Q's

Q - What is Circus Maximus?

A – Circus Maximus is the first game to capture the power and the glory that was chariot racing of ancient Rome. Think of “Ben Hur like” racing action combining the challenge of steering your team of horses, which are truly alive, with cracking the whip to control speed and stamina. Sprinkle a fighting twist, spectacular crashes, immersive racing environments and you have the essence of Circus Maximus.

Q – Which platforms?
A – PS2 and X-Box are currently mid-way through development

Q – Is this a racing game?
A – Yes, while having huge immersive environments, the goal is to win the race. However, potential keys to victory just happen to be attacking with your team’s warrior character or using things like “throwable” weapons. That’s why we call “Circus” a racing game with fighting features.

Q – Where do I race?
A – You race within arenas that are based on historic locales derived from the Roman Empire! Race from the frozen wastelands of Germania all the way to the great Circus Maximus arena in the heart of ancient Rome.

Q - Can you tell me more about the fighting features?
A- The chariot features two gladiators; a driver and a warrior. It is the driver's job to harness the stallions that power the chariot as it stampedes through the twisting dangerous terrain -- avoiding obstacles and other chariot teams! The warrior defends the chariot -- holding on for dear life -- but can also attack other chariot teams, deftly wielding his or her preferred weapon .

Q – Who is the publisher?
A – Circus Maximus is a Kodiak Interactive property. Details of the Publisher will be announced soon.

Q - When will the game be ready?
A- Circus Maximus is scheduled for a release late 2001 Early 2002
