"Cel Damage" from developers Pseudo Interactive & published by EA looks ready to burst with fun and face paced action in a similar vain as Wacky Races. Using Cel Shading to define these ultra slick visuals throughout the game Pseudo have exceeded all expectations and fans of this wacky racing genre will be set for a treat. "Cel Damage" features 12 massive interactive environments where players can pit their wits against a cast of crazy 'toons, each other in maxed-out, weapon-laden vehicles to out-maneauver, out-race, and out-smack each other for personal glory. Whether it is a tommy-gun totin' ganster duck or a diminutive demon with a woodchipper these gas-powered gladiators battle it out across 12 highly interactive environments with a host of wild weapons, such as giant boxing gloves and baseball bats, at their disposal. The game features a revolutionary "stretch and squish" phyiscs engine which all in all makes the whole game seem as if all the wild action is taking place in an actual cartoon episode rather than within a game "This is a really nice touch!". Now It is time to get aggressive behind the wheel because the 'toons rule the road in this wild and wacky world! As we are nearing launch and final product details are being released expectation for this title is growing, "After all we all love a Mario Kart or Crash Bandicoot Racing blast!" With the stunning visual experience, which is guaranteed from Cel Damage what, can we expect for gameplay? Well initially the game has three modes: battle race, flag rally, and smack attack. Battle race is the normal mode as seen in previous similar titles such as Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing. Flag rally is a game of capture the flag but has a rather odd and funny feature which is the flag itself is a character, and apparently isn't too fond of the notion of being captured. "Very Amusing" The flag will actually try to run away if players get too close, "So Catch it if you can". Smack attack is a standard deathmatch mode but with a differance. It's brings into the equation an fps deathmatch the general idea is to whack or be whacked!! "Remember Roger Rabbit? Well if you dont, basically cartoons don't die". Game Features Include: - Frantic vehicular combat in a cartoon universe.
- Battle it out across 12 interactive cartoon environments set in 4 different themes (Space, Jungle, Desert, Transylvania).
- Smack your opponent's silly in 3 gameplay modes: Smack Attack, Battle Race and Flag Rally.
- Cruise and bruise in the suped-up rides of the toughest 'toons around - 6 playable characters with 4 unlockable guest stars.
- Wield a massive chainsaw, giant axe or one of 34 other wild, over-the-top weapons.
- Smash your friends in four-player split-screen action. Game Modes
- Smack Attack: This straightforward deathmatch mode challenges each 'toon to smack the heck out of the other cast members to earn "smack points". The character with most points at the end of the match wins.
- Flag Rally: This is the 'toon version of capture-the-flag. A 'toon must collect four flags and make it to the winner's circle to be victorious. The catch is that these flags are on the move - as in alive and kickin' on their own two feet, trying to avoid capture.
- Gate Relay: This is combat racing at its finest. Two checkpoints are set up within the course. The first 'toon to pass each checkpoint five times is the winner. If only it were that easy. This all adds up to a whole lotta lotta fun, our only concern is the relative lack of environments, 12 with only 4 themes seems a little on the low side but as an initial Xbox title this is quite acceptable, after all there are plenty of game modes to get stuck into and should prove enough of a challenge to keep players going for a fair while.
With the vast array of around 36 weapons at your disposal to try and test and plenty of fast paced all out wacky and Crazy action players will not be disappointed! Almost "if not" a must have title but again the lack of environments and themes is the only shame and maybe the only let down within the whole game. Preview By: Ade |
