Imagine a world where we didn't win the first world war, and it raged for fifty years. Now imagine that governments had been overthrown by huge multi-national corporations. This is a taste of the environment you will face in Wanadoo's new game: IronStorm. You take control of Wizel, an officer born in the trenches and part of the Western Forces battling against the army of Baron Roman Ungern Sternberg, also known as the Mad Baron, head of the immense Russo-Mongol Empire.

You are given a task that, if successful could end the war and bring peace that little of the inhabitants of the planet have known for half a century. The Mad Baron is developing a top secret tactical weapon which would enable him to win the war and realise his dreams: an independent pan-Mongol state, which would be the first step towards a worldwide empire and ultimately to be the ruler of all humanity.

Features:

  • High quality sound engine. For example, around a dozen or so sounds are used to convey the impact of bullets into different materials: wood, flesh, iron, concrete, mud, etc.
  • Multi-player: Death Match / Team Death Match / Capture The Flag / Escort-Assassination
  • A choice of two viewing modes: First and third person, depending on players preference.
  • Tons of weapons to avoid including: machine-gun bunkers, snipers, laser mines, tanks, aerial bombardments, gas attacks, muddy trenches, dogs carrying mines which are trained to attack the enemy, etc.
  • Your own arsenal includes: Russian short sabre, a Heckler & Koch MP-6 "Wotan" assault pistol with a silencer fitted, a Remington M910 "Bull's Eye" shotgun, a M203 40mm "Clovis" grenade launcher, fragmentation and smoke grenades, antipersonnel and magnetic mines and the old favorite, the sniper rifle: a Simonov K-s 12 "Snayperskaya" Russian marksman rifle, equipped with a telescopic sight.

Interestingly, IronStorm combines the technology of the first world war with the technology of WWII to create interesting environments, including trench warfare mixed with helicopters and radar technology to create a very hostile and frightening environment. Stay tuned for more info nearer the time of release: Spring 2002.
