Duality is the action-RPG style game from developers Trilobyte Graphics. The plot seems a bit more interesting than some games and it goes a little something like this... HIT IT! Set in a 'cyberpunk' (agh) future, Travis (head security for a company) has been ordered to tighten security because rumours abound of a rival company's plan to steal their secrets. That very same night, the offices are raided and Travis is knocked unconscious. When he comes to, he finds that the top secret products have been stolen and is again ordered to take them back. Not sacked. No. Ordered to retrieve them. Nice bosses, huh? Anyway, you will play the game through three sets of eyes, each character having their own skills and classes to help and hinder you. The quest will take you through two worlds: your own and cyberspace, each having its own puzzles for you to overcome in a variety of fashions. Each level has its own route for each character, ensuring that repetition is abolished. The three character classes are: Mercenary, Hacker and Virtual Being. Each will have their own goal, be it fighting for money (Mercenary) to seeking their own identity (Virtual Being). Gameplay it is similar to Metal Gear Solid mixed with a bit of Deus-Ex, and hopefully they will blend in seamlessly. Features: - Full polygon environment is enhanced with cutting-edge special effects. (Real-time mash smooth, bump mapping, inverse kinematics, dynamic shadowing, localized damage, etc.) 2,000 polygons per character, but enhanced to look like it has 8000.
- 4-5 large sized enemies displayed on screen at any time, and more small sized ones.
- Enemies assess the situation and act as a team, not a group of individuals.
- The enemy types are; machines, humanoids, virtual entities, transformers, etc.
- Quests are designed to be played freely according to the user's play-style and the character's ability.
- Multiplay deathmatch is available. Well-balanced player characters will duke it with their own unique selection of equipment and skills.
Duality is designed for fans and non-fans alike of the genres contained within the game and we'll have to wait about a year to see if they are successful in creating an interesting blend of different gaming styles. Preview By: Alex |
