Microsoft may be the new boy's on the block when it comes to console gaming but they have years of experience in delivering the goods for the mighty PC, Microsoft arguably have delivered some of the very best PC games including titles such as Midtown Madness, Midtown Madness 2, Motocross Madness 2, Age of Empires, Age of Empires 2, Flight sim 2000 to name but a few.
Can Microsoft deliver when it comes to Console's and Console Gaming ? Well yes ! it certainly looks as though Microsoft can. Microsoft aim to deliver the goods and come Christmas 2001 were all have many many hours of awesome gaming ahead of us.
One Genre sadly lacking in quality launch or early release titles is sports and with NFL Fever 2001 and the awesome Amped Snowboarding we would say Microsoft are well on there way to improving the rather lacking sports genre.
Microsoft are taking on some pretty big contenders by taking on a sports sim such as American Football with EA and Visual concepts already having years of experience in delivering the American Football sim to console gamers. As you can or will see from the screen shots, It looks like they may have blown them clean out of the water.
The visual's are superb, Smooth, clear, crisp and sharp with extremely fine detail being displayed by the shear power of the X-Box. One report received by us in the office declared that the players eyes actually track the ball as it's thrown through the air "Impressive attention to detail" and with the rippling players muscles as he bounces off the turf this truly looks utterly realistic and unbelievable.
NFL Fever 2002 will offer several methods of gameplay, including the normal game modes found but also offering a Dynasty mode which will allow players to take control of the favorite team and play up to 25 seasons. An interesting challenge for even the hardest of hard-core American Football fans.
Microsoft are also intending to include an amazing in-depth stat tracking and attributes system that will allow for a players attributes to change week by week depending upon their performance, along with seasonal and career awards, which will only to be handed out to the biggest and the best stars.
