Jet Set Radio Future, or as it’s known in short JSRF. This is a game I’ve been interested in for a long time, since it was shown back at E3. If you’ve played or even seen the original Jet Set Radio on the Dreamcast you’ll know what I’m talking about! But for those of you who are first-timers with Jet Set Radio I’ll give you a run through everything. Jet Set Radio Future is set in Tokyo(or as it’s known Toyko-to). The basic concept is to skate on blades and tag(spray graffiti) on various areas of each level to move onto the next level, whilst doing this you pull off mad tricks and avoid the cops in whatever form they come in from on-foot to full on armour plated tanks!! The original Jet Set Radio(or Jet Grind Radio as it’s known in Japan and the States) had a funky soundtrack to boot last time including Jurassic-5 and Mixmaster Mike, you may not have heard of them but the music they made fitted in perfectly with the spraying and skating. This time round The Beastie Boys and several other bands will be making music for the game and possibly some of the bands from last time. Jet Set Radio Future is in full 3D, well sort of. Smilebit the developers created a cell shading technique, which makes the game, look very much like a cartoon. Blending 3D worlds into what looks like a 2D world, if you look at the screenshots you’ll be able to see for yourself! But of course as this is the sequel to Jet Set Radio it couldn’t be a sequel without improvements. Smilebit have made the following improvements so far: ·Ability to grind at 90º ·Multiple trick combos whilst grinding ·Much bigger level areas ·Multiplayer facilities available ·Hip-hop and techno soundtrack also featuring Beastie Boys. As for standard tricks you can pull off your usual grinds, wall grinds, backwards skating and grinding and practically any other skating trick in the book! The big improvement has to be the fact that multiplayer has come into the game you and your friends will be able to cause chaos with your spraying and skating together! But as long as the game is longer than the original this should be a sure hit for Sega as the original was a blast apart from the game being too short, Jet Set Radio Future sets to improve on every aspect on the original making it a sure-fire hit. If you don’t believe me just download the movie from the link below, you will be stunned.
