Good Cop Cad Cop the choice is yours! In Good Cop Cad Cop players will take on the role of Ben Kellman, Ben Kellman is a tough & cynical character who from the start of the game realises that the prime suspect in the murder investigation he is currently working on is the very same man who killed his father some 25 years ago.
This is now where players will choose the direction in which they follow do you seek revenge or justice? From here on your morality is judged and the game will mould around the route which you decide to follow, the choice is yours! Inspiration for the game has been taken from classic Cop movies and Revolution Software aim to translate the action, drama and explosive action a truly unique experience for owners of the Microsoft Xbox (also available on PS2 & PC) the game will feature "operatic shoot-outs and moments of unbelievable tension" says Charles Cecil managing director of Revolution Software.
Classic movies scenes such as rooftop chases, gunfights through crowded thoroughfares and the ability to kick down doors, capture suspects and then execute or arrest them in true Hollywood tradition are all set to feature within the game. Players throughout the game are free to investigate as they wish, beat up or even kill suspects at will or merely wounding them the choices throughout the game are all made by you the player. Revolution software are using a proprietary next gen graphic engine for Good Cop Cad Cop, the game is set in a real-time 3D environment, Playerws will be able to explore vast locations in the quest to seek either revenge or justice.
The environments are all rendered superbly with extensive attention to detail and integrated cut-scenes, which drive the story forward. The game also features advance lighting and reflection effects, this truly is a Hollywood blockbuster in a game! What title in this genre would be complete without the traditional puzzle solving? Well rest assured Good Cop Cad Cop features plenty of puzzles, the game will be played from a 3rd person perspective in the main, the main bulk of the game is Action Action Action, all tied together with a truly engrossing story and on occasion up to 15 enemies in a single location which you must overcome.
The game also features a huge cast of characters - including a gorgeous FBI agent Maria Spillaci (what game would be complete with her?) all of which will feature advanced facial animation technology. Charles Cecil follows on by saying "Good Cop Bad Cop is a very ambitious title. It's certainly more action-orientated than anything we've done before, but we'll be using our experience within the field of interactive fiction to ensure this is not just another 'me-too' blast-'em-up. Advanced facial animation technology will ensure Good Cop Bad Cop features superb acting and characterisation to set it apart and make it real. This game has the sophistication of a film like Heat with the action of Die Hard or Lethal Weapon whereas most of the games out there are in cheesy B-movie territory.
We're primarily interested in challenging the morals of the player. The most violent option within the game will certainly appeal to many; but Good Cop Bad Cop will present the consequences of those actions in a dark and mature way. We believe players will soon feel uncomfortable playing Good Cop Bad Cop because of the things you might end up doing. By testing players' emotions on top of their reactions we've come up with an extremely unique gameplay experience.
One thing is for sure Good Cop Bad Cop looks like it will be a worthy and welcome addition to the Xbox console, and I for one cannot wait to play what looks like being a truly amazing and morally testing experience. The game is currently fully functional and with prototype sections already running. The game is set for a mid 2002 release for Xbox, PS2 and PC
