Hunter: The Reckoning is based on White Wolf's pen and paper game. The gameplay is loosely based around such games as Resident Evil, which can't be a bad thing can it? As the game is played in a third-person perspective.

The game is set in a small prison based town and the prison has become the centre of evil and corruption. A long time ago several vampires embraced the prison and used the prison as their feeding grounds and carried out their own cringing experiments and torturing the inmates in the proceedings.

You play the Hunter trying to clear the mess that these insane vampires have left and are still creating. You will come across 10 to 50 vampires in each gothic and eerie based scene(bearing in mind there is more than 1 scene in each level). There are also tons upon tons of different movements that your character can pull off, out of the 4 you can choose. For instance you can run along and your character can pull of many fighting moves in different directions whilst running. But those are just the standard moves you get, as the game progresses you gain complex moves added to your character but advancement is predetermined.

The game isn’t just about walking through each level and beating the crap out of the bad guys the game comes in missions and you do have to fight off the vampires but you do have to rescue trapped civilians. As you play through the game you are offered an assortment of weapons: axes, handguns, flamethrowers and so on. Also included in the game are Glyphs.

These Glyphs(Glowing symbols on the ground) enable the hunter’s magic powers and regenerate lost health along with special items. But a great advantage of Hunter: The Reckoning is you can have 4 players helping each other out at the same time, obviously the more people there are the harder the game is. Incorporated into the multiplayer aspect of the game are new strategies as well as new challenges. But if there was a bad point to this game it's that the game seems like it's all been done before, as I've mentioned Resident Evil it sounds like the game is similar to 3d scrolling beat-em ups and intense horror games. But, according to Interplay this is a game that delivers an intense gameplay experience with strong horror elements. Is Hunter: The Reckoning just another 3d scrolling beat-em up/intense horror game or is it more?Interplay certainly claims that it is and from the screenshots and movie I'd buy it if I could!
