Magic fans will be glad to know that the newest edition to the Magic family creates a bang. Magic The Gathering: Battlegrounds is built using the unreal engine creating magnificent looking creatures and environments. With a comprehensive single player mode and of course what game wouldn't be complete without the online play via Xbox live, this game will keep gamers coming back for more and more Due out mid to late November for the US and UK the game is sure to be loved by fans and gamers alike. With eighteen duelists and battling in sixteen different epic arenas with over 70 different spells that gamers can mix match battles become intense. Single player quest mode will be where the duelist will go on quests and on the way they acquire new spells and artifacts. These spells will help them on become stronger and better against the tougher enemies. From the short demo that I played this seems to be a promising aspect of the game that will entertain the single player for hours. Online battles are where Magic The Gathering: Battlegrounds gets an A+. New content download will include more spells, duelists and extras that will be updated regularly. Also Battlegrounds will include detailed stats tracking which will allow for a player to earn a real reputation as a magic duelist and rise to the top of the rankings. The top ten worldwide rankings will be regularly updated at the games website (www.mtg-bg.com). Battlegrounds went all the way with the online capabilities to include voice chat and a lobby system that allows for matchmaking and of course added the option for your friends-list, so you and your friend will never have an excuse for missing a battle. In the demo I played Magic The Gathering: Battlegrounds seems to be a promising game, with the potential to be phenomenal on Xbox live. This is a Magic the Gathering game that does justice to card game and is as close as a real time battle would be. Each duelist and each spell is distinctly based on the Magic the Gathering Universe and should be familiar to the fans of the genre. For the gamers who have yet to check out Magic The Gathering this would be a great game to look into. Preview By: Nick Gomez |
