Links 2004 Preview:
Links has long been the most successful golf franchise for the P.C. and has now been rebuilt for the Xbox to offer one of the most realistic golf experiences on gaming systems. Incorporating the new XSN online options, this newest release offers gamers and golf fans worldwide the ability to organise and compete online, both in friendly matches and tournaments from a centralised web site, XSNsports.com.

Links 2004 offers gamers more than just improved graphics and the chance of playing against others. In game commentary from former pros offers the gamer a greater heightened sense of reality when playing and players can choose to start either as a pro or as a ‘nobody’ and have to work their way to being the world number 1.

Many courses around the world appear here along with in game real life events, meaning if you hit your ball into the water, all the ducks will fly off. Quite often it’s the little touches that make a game playable. The real-time swing facility offers complete control over the game and allows unprecedented command over golfing technique.

Golf fans can play as golf superstar Sergio Garcia or as other professional golfers to perfect their game. Gamers also can create a character with unique physical characteristics, skills, apparel and personality. Players can be aggressive and take risks or be conservative and lay up. "Links 2004" has a personality to suit every type, and each character's celebrations and audio commentary will match their personality.

The game is due to be released Christmas of this year and even if it is just a refinement of a previous incarnation, that’s not a bad thing because the Links games are pretty good.
