Electronic Arts jump-started E3-week by revealing what the current plans are for Xbox games. The popular EA Sports franchise leads the way... expect to see some incredible things from EA during E3.
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. May 14, 2001--Electronic Arts (EA) ERTS, the world's leading independent video game software publisher and developer, today announced that it has ten titles in development for the Xbox(TM) video game system from Microsoft. The company will unveil four Xbox games at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles later this week, including three top-selling sports titles from EA SPORTS(TM).
"Our games look great on Xbox," said Larry Probst, chairman and chief executive officer of EA. "EA is committed to producing ten titles within the first 12 months of Xbox' debut. We're developing a wide range of popular titles from EA SPORTS, EA GAMES and our publishing partners."
EA plans to showcase Madden NFL(TM) 2002, the world's best-selling sports video game, as well as other powerhouse sports games including NHL(R) 2002 and F1 2001. For those racing fans that want to inject some comic relief into their driving, EA will bring The Simpsons Road Rage(TM) to the platform via a recently signed distribution agreement with Fox Interactive.
Other Xbox titles in development include: Pirates of Skull Cove(TM), Medal of Honor Allied Assault(TM), Cel Damage and popular franchises under the EA SPORTS brand.
"Our studios are creating incredible games for the Xbox that will deliver an amazing experience to consumers across all genres," said Don Mattrick, president of worldwide studios at EA.
