Shrek Press Release for TDK.

Actually a plesnet suprise of the recent X01 event “Shrek™”, is among the first roll out of titles accompanying the launch of the Xbox video game system. Currently in development by Digital Illusion Canada, formerly Sandbox Studios, “Shrek™” is also one of the first Xbox software titles based on a movie license. Releasing around the same time, and giving Shrek added momentum for Christmas, will be the home video version of Shrek from DreamWorks Pictures.


Heiko tom Felde, Director of TDK Mediactive Europe, said: “This is an exciting time for TDK as it plans to release its first title for the revolutionary and highly anticipated Xbox video game system. Taking full advantage of the Xbox’s capabilities, “Shrek™”, is a dynamic and magical title that will capture the hearts of Shrek movie fans and gamers alike. It’s stunning graphics and addictive gameplay is destined to make it a success at retail and with consumers.”

He added: “This is the first in a roll out of titles for the Xbox planned for 2001 and 2002.”
J. Allard, General Manager, Xbox Platform said: “We have seen this game at mid-production, and it is very clear that the fundamentals of a great game are all there. We are very excited about “Shrek™” because it is a great example of what Xbox can do. I think that we are all going to be blown-away by the end result of this game.”

About the Shrek License

TDK Mediactive and DreamWorks SKG have a 5-year, worldwide licensing agreement to develop videogames based on the 3D animated feature film, Shrek. TDK will develop Shrek games for current and future generation videogame platforms. TDK Mediactive Europe will also distribute localized language versions of the games throughout Europe in conjunction with the film’s international theatrical release.
