Online gamers can now enjoy an enhanced gaming experience thanks to a new Wireless Gaming Adapter and Ethernet Bridge from U.S. Robotics, which enables them to plug-and-play anytime, anywhere at mind-blowing speeds.
The device is the latest addition to U.S. Robotics’ innovative and user-friendly range of secure ADSL internet access and wireless connectivity solutions and will be available for purchase from most independent retailers and mail order outlets, such as Dabs, MicroWarehouse, Insight and Global Direct from mid-April 2004, at an RRP of £69.99 inc. VAT. (Model USR805430)
With its Automatic Configuration feature, the adapter simply plugs into a PS2, Xbox or any other Ethernet enabled gaming console and automatically finds and connects to the nearest access point, giving gamers the freedom to wirelessly play anyone, anywhere. This true plug-and-play capability also holds true when used with any device (Digital Video Recorder, internet appliance, Linux computer, etc.) equipped with an available Ethernet port.
Online gamers can also enjoy faster wireless gaming than ever before as the USR805430 Wireless Gaming Adapter boasts a swivel dipole antenna to maximise range and throughput, as well as featuring accelerator technology that delivers up to 25 percent better performance than standard 802.11g.
Furthermore, by combining the new adapter with U.S. Robotics’ SureConnect™ ADSL Wireless Gateway (model USR9106), which has built-in support for popular gaming consoles such as PS2 and Xbox, multiple users can get online to enjoy wireless gaming and fast internet access with the added protection of a powerful, built-in firewall.
“Online gamers will no longer be confined by the accessibility of an Ethernet connection, because the adapter eliminates the wiring hassle and provides gamers with the flexibility of playing live from any room in the house.
“Also the Wireless Adapter and Ethernet Bridge allows gamers the flexibility to connect to whatever Access Point of Wireless Router they have, 802.11g or 802.11b,
at exceptional speeds to boost their overall gaming experience,” said Jim Thomsen, senior product manager of U.S. Robotics.
U.S. Robotics 802.11g Wireless products provide accelerated speeds, better security and broader compatibility than standard 802.11g products. The line’s versatility and simplicity makes it easy to set up a wireless network with, or without, an existing wired network and without expensive infrastructure costs. The unique, SecureStack, modular case design of U.S. Robotics networking gear requires minimal space, so both home network users and small-to-medium size business owners alike can grow their networks with an entire family of other U.S. Robotics networking and broadband devices.
