SPEC-OPS VETERAN GUIDE
The new co-operative mode introduced to the Modern Warfare sequel looks set to keep two players on their toes with various difficulties on offer. If you're going for all the stars - a total of 69 - then Veteran is the only way to play. Ideally you'll want a competent buddy at hand, especially considering some missions require two players to play, regardless of whether you've got balls of steel as a lone gunman or not.
ALPHA:The PitThe same as that from the single-player campaign, although in Spec-Ops you of course have an extra buddy to shoot down some targets as well. The objective on Veteran is to score below 35 seconds. The timer does not start counting until you enter the arena, so you have the option to change your weapon load out with what's on offer on the table. This should make things a bit quicker when switching weapons, especially if you pick a gun which packs plenty of ammo in one round and just use short bursts. Just keep on the move with one player hanging back a few foot ensuring that no targets are missed.
Sniper FiGrab the Claymore mines and quickly plant a couple down below to take care of any enemies that later decide to charge up. Simply return up top to the spawn position and hold your ground with the Sniper rifle. Come Wave 2, you'll have the AGM Predator missile to use at regular intervals - this makes things a lot easier. Just ensure your co-op partner is keeping close watch to ensure no one sneaks up top during the few seconds you're on the laptop.
O Cristo RedentorOne of the more difficult Spec-Ops missions for the impatient gamer, chances are one of you will get downed at some point. Slowly but surely push through the village moving between, in and out of the buildings, but go seperate yet close routes to be able to cover one another, ensuring that both of you aren't caught in an inevitable situation of death together - meaning one can potentially play 'clear-up' and revive the downed team mate.
EvasionThe easiest method we found on this was to keep to the right side of the map, thus bypassing any patrols to the left. Although if you get spotted further down the track then you can expect that to come back to haunt you, just take it nice and slow and co-ordinate with your team-mate as much as possible. Ideally with larger numbers to dispose of in a group, one player should focus on sniping the guards whilst the other takes care of the dogs.
SuspensionGrab your desired weapon loadout, ideally a scoped rifle that you're comfortable with, and proceed to cover the left or right side. Push forward slowly, using the vehicles as cover as and when needed. The key here is for both of you to split up and move up from either side, taking out the terrorists as they zip-line onto the bridge - if you have your timing down it's possible to take them all down in one burst as they all land on the bridge at the same time, and are conveniently positioned behind each other, just like a nice stack of dominoes that's begging to be pushed over, with a few bullets though, of course. Further up there's going to be more enemies to be disposed of as well as an enemy helicopter looking to do you some damage. One of you should proceed to grab an RPG and proceed to try and take out the chopper in a timely fashion whilst the other covers with a scoped rifle, as there's going to be plenty of enemies rushing in here. Other than some stragglers you should be home free to the finish line.
