Xbox 360 HD-DVD audio fix and more. Options

Finally it appears the update for the sound issues of this device will soon be addressed this morning via. an update. The update is to be stored on the HD-DVD drives internal memory as opposed to the Xbox 360 directly, to get the update it appears you have to put in an HD-DVD disc in your Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player and if the update is available you will be prompted to download it. This way seems to make sense as there is little point in forcing this update on every Xbox 360 owner, as obviously not everyone owns the device.



Thanks to "amirm" who is an Xbox 360 HD-DVD insider and has posted the following news on the AVSForums.

It is my pleasure to let you all know that the HD DVD update for Xbox 360 is slated for release on 5/15 (i.e. tomorrow!). So when you wake up in the morning, you should be able to upgrade your software. And me free from telling you when are going to get it. Hope you all download it and provide feedback on what you think!

I just shoved King Kong in now and have got the update, can't test out the DD 5.1 or DTS yet as I have my optical cable connected to my PS3 (its a tight fit) and my system only has 1 optical input. But I can confirm the update has gone live and should Xbox 360 HD-DVD owners load up a HD-DVD disc they will be promted with an update, or at least I just was anyway.
