Game Overview In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted. You are a Runner called Faith - and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story. Mirror’s Edge™ delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith’s world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous. Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run. From the makers of the groundbreaking Battlefield franchise, Mirror’s Edge is an action-adventure experience unlike any other. ![]() Developer: DICE Publisher: ELECTRONIC ARTS Release date 11/11/2008 North America - 14/11/2008 Europe SCREENSHOT GALLERY MOVIES ![]() CONTENTS: -Game Overview -Bag locations -Moves -Achievements -Unlockables -Downloadable content Press on your keyboard Ctrl F to bring up the find menu and then type in whatever you are looking for. BAG LOCATIONS Bags are left by runners and need to be discovered. They are coloured yellow and you'll auto pick them up when you walk over them. There is usually a red runners insignia nearby. This is the main Mirror's edge logo. If you miss one you can choose the replay level option to try and find it. You can also select the relevant checkpoint if you don't want to replay the whole level again. Also once you collect the bag and it auto saves you can quit out. There are 3 bags per level, making a total of 30 bags. Prologue - The Edge. 1.Checkpoint B: As soon as you enter the building for the first time you'll be required to climb up onto a vent. The first bag is here and cannot be missed as it's part of the story. 2.Checkpoint B: As you drop down and are ambushed by the guards, run up the red stairs and through the first red door. Now turn to your left and run to the end. Climb up onto the storage shelving and the bag is on top. You'll probably get killed trying to escape but it does not matter as the bag tag will have registered - so you won't need to do it again when you continue. 3.Checkpoint C: As you are ambushed and running across the rooftops whilst being chased, you'll come to an area with two guards you can fight. As you approach the blue stairs and walkways in this area, if you go underneth these you'll find a bag between the vents. Chapter 1 - Flight 1.Checkpoint A: At the very start of the mission jump over to the first building, you then need to jump over an electric chain fence. Once you've jumped this there is a locked service entrance with a sat dish on the top. You can't miss it. You need to climb up on top of this building to reach the dish. The bag is between the two vents. 2.Checkpoint C: As you are being chased and shot at by the helicopter you'll come to an Orange/white building on your right. Run around this building and jump down onto the rooftop it leads to. The bag is behind an air vent on this roof. This is just before jumping onto the blue stairs. 3.Checkpoint E: As you are being chased through the Centurian plaza you come to an open area that leads to the train tracks. Before going up the steps to the tracks go under them and turn to your left in the shadows. You'll need to climb over a hard to see fence and you'll spot the bag behind it. Chapter 2 - Jacknife 1.Checkpoint A: As soon as the level begins you'll make your way into a aqueduct. As you are chased by the helicopter you'll see the symbol on your left. You need to jump over to the left side and go behind the blue and white pillars beyond the symbol. This is just before the drain makes an arch towards the right for the first time. The bag is behind the pillar. 2.Checkpoint C: After running through the outside drain you'll enter a sewer area where there are large pillars close to each other. Your mission requires you to head to the top. Once you reach the top there are two snipers on the right hand side. You can either jump down and take them out, or from the platforms on the pillars jump across to grab the bag which rests on one of the walkways adjacent to the wall. 3.Checkpoint E: As you come out of the circular drain area by using the pulley that raises you. If you head towards the orange container next to the forklift in front of you, the bag is next to the container on its right side. Chapter 3. - Heat 1.Checkpoint A: when you enter the building for the first time you'll have to work you way through a vent. Once you drop down the bag is in this small area in front of you. 2.Checkpoint C: Just after the area where you encounter the three heavily armoured guards you'll need to climb up the pipes from this area and then jump upwards and then across to an adjacent building directly infront of you. It has the two red cranes on top of it. On your left next to a chain fence there is a bag. 3.Checkpoint D: Quite far into the mission you'll escape onto a crane, from here you'll jump down onto a landing mat near a second crane. Simply jump onto the ladder of the second crane from the landing mat, and climb up the second ladder on the crane to reach a bag. Chapter 4. - Ropeburn 1.Checkpoint A: As you begin the level you'll navigate to a rooftop that has loads of fans which you can jump on. Immediately opposite this area this is a building with a large Duel sign. This is before you drop down via a pipe to reach the first door you enter as part of the mission. The bag is on the right side of the base of the Duel sign. 2.Checkpoint C: After the elevator crashes in the shaft a guard will open a door once you drop down off the elevator. You can run towards the wall and climb up and over in one move if you are careful. Once up the bag is nearby. You can choose to ignore the guard and just grab it or take the guard out first. 3.Checkpoint D: You'll come to a section where you enter a subway. You'll run down some stairs and then navigate the platforms. At the end you'll jump onto the tracks on the right and make your way up a ladder. From here there are some bars you can swing on (if you fall from here you'll have to reload checkpoint D from the menu because you can't die and restart). Do a wallrun jump onto the furthest bar, then swing onto the ledge. Your objective is to wall run to another ledge over the tracks. Before you do this, on the wall you'll see the insignia and two bars. You can jump up onto one bar and then turn and jump up to a ledge where there is some writing on the wall. The bag is up here. Chapter 5. - New Eden 1.Checkpoint B: After you have climbed up the long pipe and jumped onto the nearby rooftop, you'll see a yellow "your 5-a day" sign in front of you. There is a yellow and white building building you can climb up onto to jump inside the barbed wire fenced in area. Once inside there is a bag between two vent blocks on the floor. 2.Checkpoint C: After you have swung from the two ropes where there were two guards shooting at you. You'll come to an area in front of a building with the words "Coronat Opus" written on the side of it in white letters on an orange background. Before proceeding on top of a water tank (it's next to a locked door) which is beside two vent fans there is a bag. To reach here you'll need to climb the fans housing and wall run across (this is over a camera). 3.Checkpoint C: After you enter the plaza you'll be required to go through a vent and drop down to navigate a locked door. Once you drop down you'll see the runner insignia in front of you. The bag is actually on top of the parked lorry/van here. Chapter 6. - Pirandello Kruger 1.Checkpoint A: As the level begins, jump up a floor and then head down the staircase. At the bottom you'll see the insignia and a vent you can climb onto. You need to drop down onto another vent, and then do a wall run across to another rooftop. Once you are there, bag can be found. 2.Checkpoint B: As you enter the warehouse area after you'll fallen down to the ground level via the pulley, you'll need to wall run and then jump onto a vent to enter the office at the far end of the red walkways. Once inside the bag is on some shelves near the exit door. 3.Checkpoint C: As you enter the next area to reach the second office (room with conveyors) simply head to ground level and jump over the fence. Now run to your right, past the forklift and into the corner on your left (away from the pillar and locked door). Now you need to jump up to reach the gap in the shelving, the bag that rests up here. Chapter 7 - The Boat. 1.Checkpoint A: You need to head to ground level at the start of this mission. If facing the blue platform you could have used to drop down from and with the white truck on your right, there is a forklift parked on the left at the side of the warehouse. The bag is next to the warehouse side,by a closed shutter opposite the forklift. 2.Checkpoint B: Once inside the first green coloured car park take out the guards and head to the far lef back of the car park where there are two parked white trucks. Climb the right truck, jump onto the pipe and climb onto the airvent. All you need to do is follow the route round until you reach the corner where you jumped up from, but on the other side of the vent. You can't jump over the vent as you've climbed up so you have to go round. 3.Checkpoint D: As soon as you reach the outside deck of the ship (where you face the sniper) on your right is a room which is shrouded in darkness. In the corner on the ground is a bag. Chapter 8 - Kate 1.Checkpoint A: Once you have made your way across the rooftops and enter the first door, you'll walk down a short corridor and into a room. The insignia is on the whiteboard. In the corner on your left behind some boxes is a bag. 2.Checkpoint C: Once you come down the elevator you'll reach an open area which is under construction. as soon as you exit the corridor from the lift simply walk forwards to the middle of this area and look to your left. There is some yellow covers and on the ground a large white bundle with the insignia on the side. Simply climb onto the bundle and jump up on the walkways. To reach the second level, turn to face the opposite side and jump then turn and jump. LB,RB,LB. The bag is here. 3.Checkpoint C: Once you have navigated the construction area you'll enter a vent shaft. Follow the path and drop down and just walk dead ahead. The bag is on your left at the end. Chapter 9 - The Shard 1.Checkpoint A: As soon as you navigate the first room, you'll come to another room which requires you to turn a gas valve. Ignore the valve and go to the middle of this corridor. You'll see the insignia and an area you can wall jump up to right next to it. Wall jump using the same wall as the insignia and the bag is right next to you as you climb up. 2.Checkpoint C: You'll have a conversation with Miller and then be told to head to the roof. As soon as you gain control of Faith turn to your right and run past the stairs, then on the left there is a red chair you can vault up to the platform. The bag is on this platform. 3.Checkpoint D: You'll need to exit the elevator and jump across to reach an area which is lit by orange lights. Once you have navigated the first area you'll enter into a vent. Inside the vent you'll drop down and see the insignia. Above the insignia you can jump up using LB,RB,LB to reach the bag. It's a tight spot but easy to jump up. Thanks to Mahalo for checkpoints. MOVES LIST - thanks to Notlikeyou. Faith has several moves that are somewhat explained in Celeste's and Merc's tutorial. However there are a set of advance moves you need to familiarize yourself with so she can fluidly go from point A to B as fast as the master himself, David Belle. Wall-Run (WR) - Run diagonally towards a flat wall and press the jump button (LB). Faith will wall run if you have enough speed. Wall Climb - with the momentum of running directly at a wall and then jumping you'll be able to get a slight height boost. Wall Run Jump -- Faith can jump from a wall-run (transferring from wall to platform or other element) by pressing LB during a wall run. Note if the quick turn button wasn't used, her angle of jump is far shallower than with quick turn (which essentially aims away from the surface she is wall- running against). Wall Run Flip using the Quick Turn action, can quickly bounce/kick jump from a wall and grab onto mantle possible surfaces when turned around. Otherwise identical to the Wall run jump except you need to press the RB button after you've jumped initially. Wall Run Kick - A martial arts attack that places Faith on a wall run, then hit RT to kick out. If Quick Turn is used before attack, the attack will be a standard jump kick. Mantle - Faith can mantle up onto surfaces and fences. A version of this (vault) is done on low, waist-high objects (like hurdles). Press LB. Slide - When running forward, Faith can slide by pressing the LT. During a slide, she can attack with a kick by pressing the RT during the slide. If she lacks the momentum, she will instead, crotch-punch the enemy. Drop Attack - From a high height, drop/jump onto an enemy and as Faith's sneakers touch the enemy, hit RT. Flip-Attack Move - Press LB to jump at a wall RB to turn and the RT to attack. Skill Roll - When Faith comes in for a landing, pressing the LT just as she touches the ground will let her do a safety roll. This negates damage from high jumps or drops. Disarm - Disarm an enemy by pressing the Y button when the weapon flashes red. Even if runner vision is turned off, the weapon should still glow red when the disarm opportunity arises. If disarm is done from behind an enemy (i.e., after a Wall Run Kick), the disarm is always successful and the weapon may sometimes not glow at all. You can use the X button to slow down time. ACHIEVEMENTS STORY These are all gained via playing through the 9 chapters of the story mode on any difficulty (other than one which is reserved for Hard difficulty). Back on the job (10) Complete the Tutorial Prologue Complete (20) Complete the Prologue in story mode Chapter 1 Complete (20) Complete Chapter 1 in story mode Chapter 2 Complete (20) Complete Chapter 2 in story mode Chapter 3 Complete (20) Complete Chapter 3 in story mode Chapter 4 Complete (20) Complete Chapter 4 in story mode Chapter 5 Complete (20) Complete Chapter 5 in story mode Chapter 6 Complete (20) Complete Chapter 6 in story mode Chapter 7 Complete (20) Complete Chapter 7 in story mode Chapter 8 Complete (20) Complete Chapter 8 in story mode That's a wrap (60) Complete the story mode on any difficulty Pro runner (80) Complete story mode on hard difficulty. SPEED RUNS The mode is unlocked once you beat the story mode. It's accessed under the RACE option. It's the same as the story mode but this time there is a timer a a target time to beat. You're going to have to learn the levels and avoid combat if you can so as to shave off valuable seconds. If you mess up, you can still try and beat the time, but it's probably better to restart. Prologue Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of the Prologue below the target time. 3 mins Chapter 1 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 1 below the target time. 6 mins Chapter 2 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 2 below the target time. 11 mins Chapter 3 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 3 below the target time. 8 mins Chapter 4 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 4 below the target time. 9 mins Chapter 5 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 5 below the target time. 9 mins Chapter 6 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 6 below the target time. 7 mins Chapter 7 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 7 below the target time. 8 mins Chapter 8 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 8 below the target time. 8 mins Chapter 9 Speedrun (10) Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 9 below the target time. 6 mins MOVES Free flowing (25) String together the following: wallrun, jump, speedvault Head over heels (20) Complete a chapter of the game without ending up in a heavy landing - Prologue is easiest as there are only two or three places to safe land (press/hold LT as you are about to touch the ground). Remember to safe land as you drop down the vent. Hey, it's-a-me! (10) Execute a stomp move on an enemy - this can be easily gained when fighting the two guards in the prologue mission (although there are several places you can do this). Once you reach the area where there are two guards shooting at you whilst you are being chased. Simply climb onto the climbable object just as you've jumped onto the building they are on, then jump and press attack as you are above them. This is handy as it takes them out in one hit. Martial artist (10) Perform a melee hit from a wallrun - Run towards a wall and press LB to jump and wallrun, during this move press RT to attack. Obviously you need a victim for this to work. May I have this dance? (30) String together the following: wallrun, turn, jump, wallclimb, turn, jump (Forward+LB,RB,LB,RB,LB) - Try the prologue mission. As soon as you use the zip-line to get on the building climb up to the next area (with the triangular glass) . You are going to want to be in between both of the buildings which have orange on them (the spinning "C" should be on your left - and one has a camera on it), wallrun up the building you want to go up, press RB to turn, the LB to jump (this performs the wall climb), Press RB again to turn and then LB to jump. You should grip the edge. It may sound complex but will work if you practice and get the timing right. - thanks to Basic Elite for the heads up. Up, over, under, onwards (25) String together the following: jump, coil (over obstacle), slide (under obstacle) - As soon as you start the prologue mission, you are going to jump extremely close to some blue solar panels. If you run on these you can jump over a fence while holding LT and when you hit the ground slide under the poles that are running horizontal to you. - thanks to FortY To 42 for heads up. aaaand safe! (30) String together the following: wallrun, jump, coil (over obstacle), skill roll - remember that coiling is when you lift your legs up when jumping. Try the 2nd Playground Level in the Time Trial mode. After the second marker, you will be forced to wall-run and coil (TUCK YOUR FEET PRESS LT) over the barbed-wire fence while in the air press and hold the LT before you hit the ground to roll. Easy peezee. - Thanks to Basic Elite for heads up. Mine! (15) Perform 15 successful disarms (outside of the tutorial) - Disarms are easy, you can press X to enter slow mode, or you can do it normally. When you see an enemy's weapon glow red, press Y to disarm. Sweet Goodbye (5) This is a highly amusing move where Faith sticks her two fingers up at her pursuers. Basically you need to have enemies chasing you or nearby. The idea here is that you jump and in midair turn to face your pursuers and give them the finger. So, run as fast as possible then press LB, RB then RT. You'll see Faith's two fingers sticking up during the move. Your pursuers have to be quite close for it to work. Tango down (15) Knock out 20 enemies in melee combat - just punch kick it's all in the mind (sorry you don't get an achievement if you know where the quote is from). EXTRAS On the clock (10) Beat the qualifier time on any Time Trial stretch - if you've played the demo to death then this should be easy on the Prologue level. If not, simply practice and you'll get this easily. Pacifist (15) Complete a chapter without firing a gun - The Prologue is the easiest, simply punch out the two guards you encounter rather than disarm. Bag lady (20) Find all three hidden bags in one chapter - see guide. Ran out of fingers (30) Find 11 hidden bags Packrat (80) Find all 30 hidden bags Still counting (30) Attain a Time Trial star rating of 50 - you're going to need to beat a fair few challenges here to gain this amount of stars. Practice...practice. Test of Faith (80) Complete the game without shooting an enemy - this means shooting at and hitting an enemy. You are allowed to pick up weapons and even fire them, just make sure you don't hit an enemy. Untouchable (15) Complete a chapter without getting shot - This is tricky but possible if you are quick and use cover wisely. Try not to disarm if there are more than one enemies close by as the animation leaves you open to being hit. The easiest level is the Prologue. You can die by falling and this won't affect the achievement. Vrooom! (40) Maintain sprint speed for 30 seconds. - this can easily be achieved in Chapter 6 in the training area just after you access the computer. Simply run around in a circle on the red flooring. Make sure there are speed wisps on the side of the screen and don't turn too sharply. The achievement pops up when you stop, so time yourself. Ignore the chasing guards. A for effort (25) Attain a Time Trial star rating of 35 - each stage has times which correspond with 1,2 or 3 stars. Beat the times to get the stars. Baby steps (20) Attain a Time Trial star rating of 20 Access all areas (20) Unlock all Time Trial stretches UNLOCKABLES Hard difficulty - Beat the story mode once to unlock this difficulty where enemies pose more of a problem for slow runners. Speed Run Mode - beat the story mode once to unlock a time trial version of this story mode. Art/Videos/Music - you can unlock these by completing levels in the story mode.
