Halo 3 Expansion - Prepare to Drop! Options

As some of you may know, Bungie took down their hompage again about 14 hours ago and replaced it with the countdown (again!) but this time it was able to finish and we were presented with this!



This looks like a Halo 3 expansion. I know this because this video is also available on the marketplace and in the description it says 'Players get ready for the new Halo 3 campaign experience with this new teaser trailer. Prepare to drop'

Another thought, It would make sense if they included the six new multiplayer maps (that we saw in the achievements) with the expasion. Whatever we get i'm sure it's going to cost around 2000+ points, but will be well worth it. Afterall it's Bungie!

Thoughts? I think this is amazing and well worth waiting for that countdown to finish, but then again i'm a huge Halo-fag

ya i was looking at taht about ten minutes ago and and started digging the release date seems to be 1/6/09 if you pause the video at around 37 seconds it will be right there in the text.

The expanded campaign, just poking about atm, but I'm predicting you won't be Master Chief.. I reckon they shouldn't continue that saga until Halo 4 comes out, a bit too underwhelming for something like that. Speculating, your someone/somthing else searching for him? anywho, can't wait for more information.

I hope they don't do that, I've just literally within the past half an hour - finally got those maps!
Though an expansion of the story has surprised me, but certainly something I will be looking forward to. GTA IV and Halo 3 DLC for the Xmas top 2 positions!! (Actually make that top 3, obviously Gears 2 will be no. 1).

If you pause at around 9 seconds, in the bottom right corner you will see underneath the time stamp the words

'Sierra 117 Loc Uknwn'

Which obviously means they don't know where the chief is.. So this could be pre or post Halo 3..

Only time will tell

And that date thing, saw that before. Don't forget Bungie are an american company so if it is a date it would actually be the 6th Janurary 2009

It just will be, i'm writing all the stuff i've seen in the trailer down just to get it out of my head so I stop thinking about it.. Once i've done that i'll post it here.

Watched it about 10+ times now, and watched each frame about 3 times.. You're right, I am a Halo junkie

And I didn't say that I was sure you'd play as the Chief.. I'm actually sure you WONT be playing as Mr John

hmm ok, it's just you said pre and post Halo 3, I thought you were implying that it couldn't be during Halo 3 as you would need to be playing as him. So how does that quote reference to pre Halo 3?

It will be pre Halo 3 because in the trailer you can clearly see the Orbital Elevator, which was destroyed in Halo 3, you see the remains in Tsavo Highway. My bet is this will fill in more of a gap between Halo 2 & 3 and will go into more detail about what happened to New Mombasa

Well according to Gameindustry.biz, Halo: Recon is the last we'll see from our lovable FPS series, so it could be the last chance of actually running into Master Chief himself. This of course also hints that we may actually run into Master Chief himself in Halo: Recon.

Some new information has come to light this morning courtesy of Kotaku. It has been confirmed that Halo 3: Recon will NOT be downloadable content or come as part of a title update. The game will be a stand alone release meaning you’ll be buying it on disc from a game store. This also means that those achievements that have been added to Halo 3 have nothing to do with Halo 3: Recon. The game will come with its own 1000 gamerscore.

I'm glad about this because I traded in Halo 3 a while back! I thought I was going to have to buy the game again if I wanted to play the extra stuff.

Yeah the extra 750 on Halo 3 is just the map pack stuff. Recon looks sweet. I am glad Bungie is expanding the Halo universe without having to create more Master Chief stories, he has already saved Earth 3 times now!
