As many UK Gears fans watched in envy as replica Lancer assault rifles went up on Amazon.com for US fans, we here in the UK watched and waited with baited breath for any news, and now we have our own bundle. The Hardcore Pack is exclusive to games retailer GameStation, unlike the standard Lancer available to US gamers, GameStation have acquired gold painted Lancer's, which should match the in-game multiplayer golden Lancer that gamers with the Collector's Edition can use online. The Hardcore Pack includes Gears of War 2 Collector's Edition and the Gold Lancer Assault Rifle, the cost has revved up rather considerably though to a whopping £129.99, which is the same price as the recently discounted Xbox 360 Arcade console.

What are your thoughts on this "Hardcore Pack", will you buy it regardless of price?

Seriously, doesn't the standard Lancer look much better? I particually like the addition of the splattered blood, has more of an authentic look about it. Due to the price of £129.99 and the fact that the UK Lancer is gold, I think I will be skipping it, for that price I am glad it is gold, as otherwise I may have been tempted if it was the same as below.

The gold one just looks cheap and nasty. Would have been better if it had just had gold details on the original rather than looking like someone dropped it in a bucket of paint. I much prefer the original, but I still wouldnt buy it even if it wasnt a rip off price.

Does anyone know how much extra we are getting charged compared to the Americans?

I can imagine Wayne running down the road with one of those so i guess there is a market for this sort of nonsense it's just not at my house especially when the Lancer adds £89.99 to the cost of the game.

For me a thumbs down on the pack, way too expensive and totally ridiculous and un-necessary, have you pre-ordered your kit Wayne?

I have the Limited Collector's Edition ordered, I would like the Lancer one, but not interested in the gold one at all. I might keep my eye out for importing the standard non-gold Lancer some time after release though.

Never been a huge fan of extra merchandise, it would end up in a loft or cupboard somewhere in my house. I think I'll just pay for the game and experience the Lancer's goodness when playing the game.

Terribly overpriced, and looks very tacky in gold. Don't like that at all.

Wouldn't it have been better if they made the lancer smaller? not life sized? Like in a small plastic case that you can stick on a shelf or something. Anyone who gets on of these life-size jobbys would have to mount it to the wall for it to look any good!

For that price i'd expect it to shoot bullets. Only jokin, Britain probably just went cheap as it looks as though the gold version was easier to paint, therefore cheaper.

I'd rather get 3 copies of the game (hopeully at £40 each) and spend the last £10 on a supersoaker, though they're probably just as expensive as that.

Yeah, but then I wouldn't be able to take it with me when I go out, and the gold one looks 'naff, I'd look so much cooler with that normal looking one instead! icon_laffing.gif

It's only like that because "realistic imitation firearms" are now illegal in the United Kingdom.

Thats the only reason its "world exclusive"
