WELLS

Wells allow you to visit Cyberspace where the NORNS (three inseparable beings) reside. The NORNS can provide you with new skills and valuable information as they exercise dominion over the world of data. You can learn Push (RT) on the first level Lift (LT) is learned in level two just after you've lowered the platform after destroying generators (press A near a tree icon on a pillar); If you perhaps wondered why Baldur is such a wuss and doesn't walk into the water, you gain the Walk on Water skill in Level 3 in the well by the inactive trolls. Create Fire (X). Some wells require you to return to so that you can rid the area of a tainted mist presence, the opposite of the NORNS.

WEAPONS ARMOUR OVERVIEW

BASICS

Pressing the back button or start will allow you to view your inventory as well as stats and and other options. The Inventory screen might appear a little daunting at first, but once you understand it, becomes easier to navigate. There are six main tabs (selectable by pressing the left or right triggers) which relate to the following areas:

WEAPONS - this allows you to select weapons, check their stats and insert runes to add effects to your weapons. This section is broken down into six subsections relating to types of weapon. You can cycle through the items in each section by pressing left or right on the D-PAD. You can change category by pressing Up or Down on the D-PAD.

Swords - one or two handed blades

Staves - axe type weapons one or two handed

Hammers - one or two handed heavy weapons

Pistols - two handed guns

Rifles - two handed longer range weapons

Cannons - ???

UNIQUE WEAPON PROPERTIES:

2 Handed Melee: Bonus proc rate.
1 Handed Melee: Chance to critical strike.
Dual Wield Weapons: Speed and damage bonus.
Swords: Slash damage, fastest, concentrated damage arcs.
Staves: Pierce damage, slowest, wide damage arcs.
Hammer: Blunt Damage, average speed, radius juggle.
Pistols: Aiming versatility, rapid fire, quick reload.
Rifles: Concentrated fire, grenade secondary.
Cannons: High damage, high ammo, slow reload.

Slug Ammo: Average damage, high rate of fire.
Plasma Ammo: Hits multiple enemies in a radius.
Laser Ammo: requires time to heat up, capable of high damage.

ARMOR - this allows you to select armor, check their stats and insert runes to add effects. This section is broken down into six subsections relating to body parts. You can cycle through the items in each section by pressing left or right on the D-PAD. You can change category by pressing Up or Down on the D-PAD.

Helms - for head gear

Torsos - for body gear

Shoulders - for shoulder protective gear

Gauntlets - for hand and arm gear

Leggings - for protective leg gear

Boots - for protective footwear

Weapons and Armor will take damage when you die. If an item's state reaches zero (visible by the state stat next to the item in inventory) the item will break and will not offer any benefits. Broken items flash red on Baldur. By visiting Tyr's workshop you can use Bounty to repair damaged and broken equipment.

CHARMS - This area shows you what charms you have available. To actually activate the charm you need to fulfill the associated quest. There are two slots available to add the charms to. Once the charm has been placed into the active slot this then activates the associated quest. See Charms section for more details.

RUNES - these are found throughout your travels and can be added to weapons, armor or charms to add various boosting effects, such as health 1+ or Attack Speed +6. Available slots are indicated by the dots next to the weapons icons in the inventory screens. Once fused they cannot be removed from the item. Colour runes can be used to change item colours. The shop in Aesir sells colour runes. The colour runes typically cost 100 Bounty each.

WEAPON BLUEPRINTS- you can use these to forge new powerful weapons that show up as rare in your inventory. You'll have to hunt these illusive blueprints down by being through in your exploration. The screen shows you the values of your current equipped items and the improvements or losses made from forging the new item. Making items costs Bounty.

ARMOR BLUEPRINTS - you can use these to forge new defensive armor that show up as rare in your inventory. You'll have to hunt these illusive blueprints down by being through in your exploration. The screen shows you the values of your current equipped items and the improvements or losses made from forging the new item. Making items costs Bounty.

WEAPON/ARMOR COLOUR CODING

Weapons and items are colour coded based on the degree of rarity. There is an option to auto salvage items once your inventory is full. You can set this for different outcomes, depending on how you wish to play and what you'd like to keep. When viewing your inventory the weapons colour is show as you cycle through them. The colour coding is as follows:

Most common to rarest:

-Gray
-Green
-Blue
-Purple
-Orange
-Red these are ELITE items and offer great enhancements press LB in inventory screen to view benefits.

COMBO METER

Attacking and killing enemies fills your combo meter. The bar will fill until it reaches its level peak and then a new level begins (up to a max of 3 - although more levels can be gained). Each combo level adds bonuses such as:

experience bonus
faster slide attacks
increased slide distance
bonus slide damage
increased rate of fire

Ruiner and Battle Cry attacks require a combo meter to be filled to activate.

THE RULES OF COMBO

It's easy to get disheartened with this game if you merely hammer away at the RIGHT stick and just hope for the best. You'll die a lot and won't have any individual flair. It also becomes boring and might hurt your hand.

The game's combo system is actually very immersive as you try and best your high score from encounter to encounter. The trick to success is chaining attacks together and not losing too much health, and so an understanding of your enemies is crucial - for example the orange/red or blue enemies will either explode on you causing massive damage or freeze you - resulting in a lost combo.

After a while you'll learn which enemies are great for building up nice combos (green ones especially and those that are almost immune to certain ballistic ammo). The main trick to combos is to juggle enemies in the air and then keep them there by either performing more strikes or shooting them. Remember those enemies on the ground can't hit you if you're airborne.

You'll need to master the juggle move and learn to switch between shooting and striking. The reload recharges as you strike so this can help prevent getting caught in the reload trap. The easiest way for high combos is to use the juggle and shoot technique listed below. Although always remember to keep moving at all times so you don't get swamped.

Some basic combos to try are:

Combo 1

Tap Right+Left Stick towards enemy then once they are launched in air quickly press and Hold RT and UP on Right Stick. This builds up combo very fast as you shoot juggled enemy.

Combo 2

Tap Right+Left Stick towards enemy then once they are launched in air, Press A to jump and then tap Right Stick towards enemy. You'll land whilst enemy is still airborne. Quickly press A again to jump back up and repeat. You can keep doing this.

Combo 3

Tap Right+Left Stick towards enemy then once they are launched in air, Press A to jump and then tap Right and Left Stick towards enemy (at same time) for airborne finisher move.

2-IN-1'S

These effectively allow you to perform faster attacks and fills your combo meter a lot faster than normal. To perform a 2-in 1 attack, slide towards your opponent (pressing right stick towards enemy) and before you reach the enemy perform another attack move.

Some 2-in-1 benefits include:

Slide - Slide attack to another target to ping pong between enemies.
Juggle - Juggle while sliding to launch enemy higher than normal
Finisher - Prime your finisher to do additional damage
Ruiner - reduce the combo meter cost

HIT COUNTER:

Each melee hit and enemy kill can build your hit counter (as seen on the HUD). Human and Cybernetic alignment trees have a special skill node that benefits from the hit counter. Once active, you have a limited time to hit or kill before the counter resets. Hitting enemies with guns helps prevent the counter from resetting is enemies are further away. Shooting airborne enemies rapidly adds to the hit counter.

LEVELING UP REQUIREMENTS:

Numbers on left denote the level and the numbers on right denote the required experience points. Level 50 is the maximum level for this game, although this might increase for the two other games in the trilogy.

CHARMS

These are found via exploration in Cyberspace (the areas you access via the WELLS) and can be used to gain new abilities. There is usually an associated quest which requires you to perform certain tasks as you play. You can combine charms by using the active slots to unlock greater benefits. You may need to add specific runes to charms to be able to combine them. Beware you can only carry a max of 20 charms, so salvage ones you don't need or have completed the quests.

COMBINING CHARMS

Place a level 2 charm into one of the active slots and complete the quest for this charm. Then with one of your level one charms make sure this has its quest completed and all the runes added. Now select insert on the level 2 charm in the slot and the list of runes will appear. The level 1 charms you can add to the level 2 charm appear below the other runes. Simply select this and press A to equip.

SECRET AREAS/ARENAS

Secret Areas/Arenas - in chronological order. These areas are filled with enemies and require you to maim and kill. Some areas have a time limit, which if you can complete grants you a greater reward (if you die or fail you cannot retry the room on the current level). To repeat levels simply return to Aesir via the pause screen and then use one of the map terminals and press X. The other secret areas listed, contain well hidden nodes that will grant you items you might find useful.

LEVEL 1 Hall of Heroes

-After entering a the well which requires you to push a large stone to highlight three locked doors, with the first door highlighted , once you exit the well and on your left there are three corresponding doors. The left door will be unlocked and has a secret arena battle. (no time limit).

-When pushing the switch to open the three doors after going into the well, the central door next to the previously mentioned door leads to a secret area where there's a time limit to kill a certain number of enemies. (39 Seconds to beat room)

-When pushing the switch to open the three doors after going into the well, the right door next to the previously mentioned doors leads to a secret area where there's an node to activate to get some items.

-In the hall where you fight the second troll there is a switch on the left (as you are facing towards the vehicle in the middle of the room) up some stairs. This opens a door on the right, up some stairs. (39 seconds to beat room)

-After you are ambushed and enter the next area there is a well - enter here and push the boulder to make a hole in the wall. When you return, a hole in the wall on the right leads to the bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the path up to a lift to the third secret area. (No time limit). Tip you can drop down off the bridge on your way down to save time.

LEVEL 2 Ice Forest

-After using the jump booster (third jump) where you first meet the archer/spider type enemy there is a destructible doorway directly opposite where you land. Whack this with a melee weapon.

-Before entering an Ice tunnel there is a activation switch to release items on your left (right after you've used a boost jump) look for a destructible doorway in the wall.

-After confronting Hod use the Well to activate the secret room behind the throne (no enemies here as it's just a small room with items).

LEVEL 3 World Serpent

-In the first room where there are computer terminals there is a lift on the right hand side behind a terminal. destroy the terminal to unlock the door. No time limit.

-After your conversation with Loki instead of going in the lift, head down the small flight of stairs and activate the small lift. Beware of two more Trolls in close proximity.

-In the 2nd large room with the giant pistons on the left, at the far end of the room there is a ramp and a door. head up the ramp to reach a teleport to a secret area.

-After killing the World Serpent Boss climb onto the lift and step off, step on the lift again to cross over. On the other side shoot the door lock next to the door to reveal a secret area.

LEVEL 4 Helheim

-Once you make it through the outside area and enter the compound, there are two ways to enter. If you go straight ahead from where you've entered towards the flags then this is one way. However if you head left (being careful of the wraiths) you'll find another way in. You'll need to jump into the water though. If you follow the water upstream, you'll come to a broken door. Hit this with your sword to access a secret area.

-Once you have defeated the first boss in the open outside area and go through the previously locked double doors, you'll see a statue in front of you. On the last pane on the right before the statue you can shoot it open to reveal a secret area.

-Once you got off the rather long winded lift ride upwards you'll come to an open area with stairs on the left and vent which spews red gas in the middle of the room. Opposite the stairs and on your right there is a destructible wall leading to a secret area.

WELL LOCATIONS/NIDHOG LOCATIONS GUIDE

There are wells located within missions and those based around the World Tree. For the achievement you need 17 wells that are found during missions, so the wells in the World Tree do not add to this tally although you will need to visit the World Tree Well at least once as the entrance well counts as one well.

Level 1 Hall of Heroes - 4 wells

1.After beating the first troll and as part of the story. enter well to receive push ability.

2.After crossing the walkway outside head down the slope and up the stairs, it's on the left next to a statue. This enables you to push a switch to unlock three doors.

3.After the room with the vehicle in the middle, the next area starts off on a staircase. Head down and the well is on your right behind you. This allows you to unlock a door to access the bridge in this room and access to secret area.

4.After crossing the second outside walkway and going up the lift there is a small indoor walkway the well is on the left and open the locked door you need to open to progress. - There is a Nidhog mist location and a Water walking location here. Ignore these for now as you'll gain the water walking ability in level 3.

World Tree - after hall of heroes

Go through opened gate and approach the four doors. head to the door number 2 (from left to right - left door is 1 and right door is 4) as the other three are locked for now. Ignore the well in the center. As you go through the door and follow the path there is a well at the dead end.

Once through the well there is an area you can water walk to but you'll have to return here later; head to your left and follow the pathway to a door which needs pushing open. Go through door and when the path forks take the left route to reach a second Nidhog location. Ignore this for now as you lack the skill to deal with this. So go straight ahead from the door you just came through. You come to a second fork with the left path taking you to another water walk area and the right path another liftable door. Ignore these for now - you'll get the lift ability in level 2.

Level 2 Ice Forest - 4 wells

5.After taking the first jumper as you land on your right there is a breakable door in the wall. destroy this. Once through the well on your left there is a Nidhog location and on your right a pushable door.

6.As you walk along the walkway you'll see a well which you cannot get to. Once you pass the red barrier keep following the path and you'll circle back round to a jump which leads you to the well. Once activated you'll be treated to a cut scene and a pushable tree to help you progress.

7.The next well will be your destination after shooting the boxes to lower a platform. It's a long route here and is part of the story objective so you can't miss it. inside is a pushable door and the Lift skill ability.

8.After the very first cutscene with Hod if you go back on yourself you'll see a throne and an obvious well opposite. The well opens up the secret door behind the throne by lifting the door inside the well.

The World Tree Part 2

Now that we are back here again, remember the four doors, well now you can enter the door on the far left this time. Enter here and follow the path which leads to another well.

Once through the well you'll see a liftable door on your left, continue down the path and take the first left turn - keep going and it'll lead to another Nidhog location. There's also another pushable door where there's another Nidhog location.

There's also another water walk area through some already open doors near here. Don't forget to go back through door 2 of the 4 doors to open the liftable door for more items.

Level 3 The World Serpent - 4 wells

9.At the start of the mission you'll see the well in front of you, entering here unlocks the door. After you exit the spinning room, carry onwards and another well will be nearby as you cross an invisible walkway. This well takes you back to the start and is not included in the tally as it's an exit well.

10.The Second well is in the room where there are two inactive trolls. Entering here grants you the Water Walking ability. It also contains a Nidhog location. To complete this area walk across the water and once you are on the panel push the giant doorway twice and then lift.

11.In the room with the transformers (glass cases with electricity above them) theres a well on your left, follow the path round to get there. (this is in the room before the big robotic arm - don't go through door as it locks once you go through).

12.You'll come to a large room with a rotating sphere in the middle, the Well is on the other side of this.

The World Tree Part 3

First off, now you have the water walking ability head to door number 1 of the four doors (far left) and head to the water area to grab some goodies.

Now go to door number 2 of the 4 doors and go through 1st well like before. Now turn right and walk across nearby water to grab the goodies. follow the path where you opened the door and go past the Nidhog on left and keep going until you reach the door you lifted before. Turn left before this doorway and walk across the water. Turn Left and you'll reach another Nidhog Location.

Now back at the four doors, head for door number 4 (far right). A well is at the end here. If you go down to the lake and follow the water under the bridge you'll come to an area with another Nidhog location.

Now open the pushable doors and go over the bridge you went under earlier. in this areas there is a liftable door. Open it and you'll see in the distance another Nidhog location.

Level 4 Helheim - 5 wells

13.After the scene where the tanks destroy the doors, you'll come to a flat open area filled with the undead. It has a metal floor. On the far left there is the first well guarded by elite undeads.

14.After the long section on the walkways and after the undead come from the ramp. You go through a double door (with red glowing marks on it) into a more open area. If you go to the right walkway and head down you'll come to a well.

15.As you approach another Red marked door in the distance, there is a walkway above you and a turning to your right down a small ramp, there is another well here.

16.Once you got off the rather long winded lift ride upwards you'll come to an open area with stairs on the left and vent which spews red gas in the middle of the room. Opposite the stairs and on your right there is a destructible wall leading to a secret area with a well inside.

17.Immediately after this area you'll go through some doors. There's a waterfall on your left. The well is located a bit further down on the right (you can't miss it). For me using all the wells in this guide up until now this unlocked the achievement. My stats say 18 wells activated. This well grants you the FIRE ability which allows you to destroy the Nidhog mist.

IF YOU'VE NOT GONE THROUGH THE WELL AT THE WORLD TREE YET THEN DO SO NOW AND YOU SHOULD UNLOCK THE ACHIEVEMENT FOR THE 18TH WELL.

The World Tree Part 4

This is the first time that you'll have all abilities to deal with all types of door and of course the fire ability to deal with Nidhog locations. Head to the area with the previously mentioned four doors and head for the last locked door (door number 3 when looking at them from left to right).

Follow the path to the end and you'll reach a well. In front of you is a liftable door. Open it and go through follow the path (crossing the water). You come to another liftable door. Open it and go through. You go through a rocky pathway and will reach a Nidhog location. Now go back to the well.

To the right of the well you'll see a pushable door beyond a bridge. Open it. Follow the path until you reach a fork. Take the left route first as there is a Nidhog location at the dead end. Go back to well once you've grabbed the other goodies here.

You can also level up far quicker by playing online co-op or on your own online as there are more enemies.

Path of Ruin 25

Secret Achievements

Through the Halls
80
Hall of Heroes has been completed (all tokens collected) in Single Player or Online Coop Play. - Tokens can be viewed in the stats screens (Tokens are merely in game check points). Defeat Grendl - Simply keep moving and jump/roll when he gets close to you. Keep shooting the targets on his torso and ignore the swarming enemies he launches. In his last stage you need to aim for his head. Very easy battle.

Frozen Vengeance 80
Ice Forest has been completed (all tokens collected) in Single Player or Online Coop Play. - defeat Hod after chasing him and shooting the platforms he jumps onto, simply shoot him with ranged attacks such as grenades or if you're tough enough strong melee attacks - beware he side steps a lot. Difficulty easy.

The One That Got Away…
80
World Serpent has been completed (all tokens collected) in Single Player or Online Coop Play. World Serpent boss needs to be attacked with Slug based guns. Keep rolling to the side when he gets close, and make use of grenades against the other enemies, so they drop health for you. Alternatively, if you can wrestle with the camera lock on, try and break some of the breakables for additional health.

To Hel and Back 80
Helheim has been completed (all tokens collected) in Single Player or Online Coop Play. Hel has three stages to her fight. Simply use grenades on the undead to get more health and use ranged or melee attacks on Hel in between killing the undead. Try and shoot the power breakables in the rooms to limit her power. You can actually shoot the first two in stage one before the battle begins if you stand at the door's edge.

Unstoppable: Hall of Heroes 10
Hall of Heroes has been completed without dying.- replay the campaign once you've leveled up a bit and gotten more skills and better equipment. This does not work by replaying a mission and quiting during this run, so if you die and start again at the first checkpoint, you won't get the achievement. You can use the replay mission feature but you must not quit the game and if you die, you need to go back to campaign and then back to the replay mission first stage.

An easy way for this first achievement is to start a new character and choose DEFENDER; max out the Defender's Resilience skill and make sure you always replace your weapons and armor as you get better stuff. This can be done single or co-op.

Unstoppable Ice Forest 15
Beat Ice Forest without dying. - can be done single or co-op This is probably the hardest mission of them all, and in my experience you stand a far greater chance at low levels in the story mode. You make it harder if you replay levels. The best time to try this is with a new character at around level 10 in the story.

Unstoppable World Serpent 15.
Beat World Serpent without dying. - can be done single or co-op

Unstoppable Helheim 20
Beat Helheim without dying - can be done single or co-op

Force to be Reckoned With 5
100 Elite enemies annihilated. - these are the enemies that stay at the back and seem to attack once the last few drones are left. They also have the health bar at the bottom of screen.

Avenger of the Slain 30
1,000 Undead slain.

Bane to Goblins 30
2,500 Goblins defeated.

Hunter of Elfkin 30
500 Dark Elves vanquished.

Slayer of Trollkind 30
50 Trolls destroyed by mounting. - wear down the troll's yellow portion of health and then get behind and press A to jump up. move the left stick to balance and then attack with the right stick to finish them off.

Exultation of Steel 30
Hel has been defeated by the Cybernetic Baldur.

Triumph of Humanity 30
Hel has been defeated by the Human Baldur.

Feeder of ravens 10
Kill 10,000 enemies.

The Blood of Heralds
10
100 enemy leaders conquered.

NORN Novice 5
First Cyberspace Well has been activated.

The Call of Battle
5
First Battle Cry unlocked. This is activated by pressing X, however you will need to reach the blue ringed points on the skill tree to gain this ability.

Trial of Ascendance 5
Complete a level 1 charm. - Simply complete the charm quest requirement and then fill the slots with the required runes to get this.

Valkyrie's Folly
Died 100 times 5

GENERAL QUICK TIPS

-Your combo meter level provides you with bonuses including a small percentage of experience points gained. Be wary of this. Level 1 gives 1% extra. Level 2 gives 2% extra and Level 3 gives 3% extra. This is marked on the HUD.

-When you hear a choir sound during battle or when activating nodes this means you've picked up a blueprint.

-Pressing RIGHT on the d-pad will show you a damage meter - blue is what you dish out and red numbers are what you've received. Yellow numbers are critical hits.

-Click in the right thumbstick whilst stationary to get a panned view of Baldur.

-Pressing LEFT on the d-pad removes the HUD entirely.

-Pressing the B button during cinematics skips them.

- You level up slightly quicker online as there are more enemies - even if you play on your own. This is useful for new characters who don't have the option to replay levels yet.

-Beware of high level characters joining your public games online as the enemies will be tailored to suit the high character and will decimate you easily unless you are playing co-op.

-Fighting Hel - destroy the power boxes to limit her power. Use grenade launcher to destroy the groups of spawning undead (which nets more health for you).

RUNE GUIDE by sethgz

A lot of people have been confused as to what certain rune effects do. Whether they are in a rune or in a weapon or item people just don't understand what they do. The reason for that is that some of the effects’ names are words that really don't tell you what that effect does. One example would be the effect MetalStorm which upon reading, one could conclude that a storm of metal is rained down upon your enemies but that in fact is not the case. Others are just things that some of us just don't know the definition of such as annulment. This guide was created in the hopes of making an accessible list of definitions of those hard to understand effects. These are usually seen in items but sometimes as a rune to put in weapons or armor. I hope this is helpful because I know a lot of people need a guide like this.

Now, on with the guide! I will try to make this as simple as possible so I will just list the name of the effect and what that effect really does. If you want to jump straight to a specific effect press Ctrl+F and type in the name of the effect. Some of this was discovered on my own and some credit goes to Rajaal on the gamespot forums for some of the effects that I didn't already know.

Ablative Shield: Chance of absorbing a percentage of incoming damage.

Annulment: chance of putting a target to sleep.

Blight: chance of emitting a damaging radiation cluster that is capable of spreading to other targets.

Defenseless: Chance of nullifying the targets resistances.

Enfeebled: Enemies do half damage.

Enthalpy: chance of freezing target.

Exposed: chance of rendering a target vulnerable to ballistic (gun) damage.

Gravitation Pulse: chance of creating a temporary gravity field which pulls targets into it, killing them instantly.

Impact: chance of knocking a target down.

Leech: reduces enemy health over time giving the health taken to you.

Lighting Induction: chance of covering target in a lightning field causing damage over time.

Metalstorm: Chance of a shot ricocheting off of a target to nearby enemies. Lasers penetrate instead of ricocheting.

Mobility Disruption: Chance of rooting target in place.

Necrotized: chance of creating a toxin pool which damages enemies that touch it.

Pierce: increased pierce damage. (I don't think I needed to state this one.)

Pulse Munitions: chance of triggering an EMP, disrupting electronic systems. (I think it stops enemies from moving or attacking).

Rot: chance of poisoning target.

Rupture: chance of causing a small explosion which does light damage.

Slowed: chance of decreasing targets ballistic rate of fire.

Snared:
chance of slowing targets movements.

Softened: critical strikes do 2x damage.

Target Acquisition Scrambler: chance of causing the target to attack your enemies.

Thermal Induction Pulse: chance of setting the target on fire.

Hybrid: plasma (this isn't a rune effect)

ENEMY POLARITY INDEX by 360mafia

1. Light Polarities (illuminated by light color) are highly volatile and explode when defeated, inflicting heavy damage and negative status effects. Use gunfire and fierce attacks against light polarities.

2. Dark Polarities are dark colored, but they begin to illuminate when shot. If you defeat a dark polarity when it is illuminated, it will explode, causing damage and status effects. Avoid triggering the explosion by attacking dark polarities with melee attacks and Finishers when they are not illuminated. These enemies spawn randomly and more frequently encountered at higher levels.

The enemy colors and effects:

The RED/ORANGE enemies explode, the BLUE/LIGHT BLUE enemies generally freeze you, SILVER/GOLD enemies are usually 10 levels above the highest level, and as a result they inflict more damage and more health than standard enemies of the same type. There's a 5% attack-damage penalty to the player and a 5% attack-damage bonus to the enemy for each level that the enemy is higher than the player. Elite enemies are also 20-percent larger than standard mobs, making them easier to spot in the crowds.

Maroon (Combo Drain) - When this enemy attacks/shoots the player or if this enemy explodes upon death, and player is caught withing blast radius, player loses a large portion of his/her combo meter.

Maroon (Life Drain) - When you get hit by the enemy attacks/blast, the player becomes infected with life drain status effect, percentage of damage received is converted to enemy's health.

Purple (Lightning) - When you get his by this enemy's attack/blast, the player becomes infected with lightning status effect, causing high damage over short period of time.

Orange/Red (NAPALM) - When you get hit by this enemy's attack/blast, you get infected with the fire status effect - medium damage over moderate period of time.

Light Blue (NITROUS) - You get frozen for a short period if hit by this enemy. If any enemy attacks you again, you get unfrozen.

Lime Green (Poison/Poison Fire) - Player becomes infected by poison upon getting attacked, low damage over long period of time.

Pole (DEFAULT ENEMY COLOR) - Poles are leader-exclusive variations. Light pole leaders knock players down if they attempt to melee attack them. These enemies must be killed with ranged attacks. When facing a dark pole leader, if they player decides to use ballistic attacks, it will charge up not only the leader, but any dark polarity enemy that is near the leader.

Purple (SLOW FIRE) - Player becomes infect with slow fire status effect, severely reducing rate of fire over a long period of time.

Purple (SNARED) - Player becomes infected with the snared status effect causing severely reduced movement and attack speeds.

Yellow (SOFTENED) - The player becomes infected with soften status effect - taking double the damage.

Yellow (UNBALANCED) - The player has a chance of being knocked down when hit by such enemy.

RED COLORED WEAPONS LIST

Here's a list of those Red Colored Weapons that I've found thus far. You can buy these in the weapons store. You can keep reloading the game (by quiting to menu) to see if new ones appear. It's more likely they will be there once you reach high levels. You can also view them on the wall leading to the weapons store. These are all Level 50.

SWORDS

Sword of the Betrayer - one handed

Damage - 2090

The Slayer's Bear-Hewer - two handed

i have a few questions about the achievements..

to get rune lore its only possible to have 60 runes in your invent at a time..if you salvage them and then buy more does it keep adding each rune you ever had up until it equals 1000?

for the wells can you get them in co-op online? or do you have to get them in your campaign

when you go for the achievements for beating a level without dieing if you havent died yet and you save and quit the game, when you go back on if you finish the level without dieing do you still get the achievement? because it didnt give me the achievement and i didnt die

also does anyone have any ideas what is the best to kill to drop elite items?

thanks

The runes add up so no worries about selling them.

I believe the wells can be gained online

No you cannot quit the game or go back to base (counts as cheating) you have to beat the entire level without death.

Elite drop items you can equip up to 15% loot items to weapons and armor. It's based on luck. You can buy some from the stores.

Ok so i was wondering if you know anything about the runes that are listed as "Mastery" ? I have 2 of them that i bought for 150,000 bounty each and i'm not exactly sure of what they say but my guess is its not something you equip to an item that you would end up salvaging so i guess you save it for a piece of the elite armor suit. Still i dont know what it does exactly. I could get the exact name of the item if needed but if there is a general answer than that would probably work as well.

Also so there is epic armor and elite blueprints if i understand correctly? so is the epic armor orange and elite blueprints red? and i guess you need the specfic one to correspond to the right class to unlock the achiement? This seems sort of a lengthy if not impossible acheivment to unlock unless there is a possibilty that these armor pieces or blueprints are completely random? maybe with the exception that if you were playing a champ class you wouldnt get a bio armor piece drop? still seems like countless replaying of levels to get the 5 pieces to me. I am mainly interested in unlocking the achievement so any info in that regard would help. I have a orange 10% loot chance that i am going to hang on to till i get a piece worth putting it into for this purpose although i hate to waste a rune slot on it if it increases my odds for unlocking this achievement i'll do it.

BTW thanks for this awsome post it explains alot of things i didnt know like the increases to your attacks and XP with the combo meter lvls that i didnt know =) I did notice tonight however it seemed i was doing some insane sword slides must have been that lvl 3 combo meter!

Atm i have a lvl 44 champ and i am 34/50 and 770/1000 on achievements atm and coming up on my 10,000 kills mark. Once again 20,000 kills = lengthy lol I'm going for my first fully unlocked game achievements and i would like to get it done before Star Wars FU comes out lol

Thanks again for the awsome post and in advace for answer my lengthy questions!!!

I'm not 100% sure on the mastery runes, but some weapons already have them attached. Obviously these are worth hanging onto and perhaps as you suggest, these need to be added to epic gear. If you cycle the pages of the epic gear (LB) it mentiones specific requirements.

As far as I am aware you need to find all pieces of the epic armor and weapon, with the same name to unlock the acheivement. This really seems a very lengthy process as you suggest. Having looked at other peoples posts on Xbox.com and gamefaqs, there seems to be a lot of folks, myself included that have only gained the a Helm for their character.

This leads me to think that there may be some requirement for getting these armor drops.

I'm also suspecting that playing whilst connected to Xbox Live may have an influence over the drop rate. I've come to this conclusion simply because players can trade with each other online, where as those without Live cannot.

More research needs to be done with this, but I will say with around 50 hours play time with my defender, I've only had one red drop the entire time (a helm from Grendl boss). I've found about 6 red Charms and have been able to purchase two red hammers, red pistols and a red rifle from the store.

i also wanted to go for all the achievements.. right npw i have 46 out of 50 achievements ..955 gamerscore
i have 60+ hours on my berserker and not even 1 elite/epic item i also have a bio engineer with 20+ hours and have nothing after i went on my goal to get the 20k kill achievement a week a go i now have over 45k kills.. i have come to th conclusion..after 80 hours of total game play not even 1 elite/epic item drop it must take so long to get the relics of a forgotton past achievement that it is nearly impossible .its only worth 5G and even though i really want to have 1000/1000 i dont think its gonna happen unless someone in a few months trades me all 7 pieces

or like you said there might be a secret behind getting them that may be found out in the future.. the only other achievement i might not go for is "unstoppable helhiem" because everytime i get to the wolf i die and im getting sick of spending the time getting to it..i have other games i bought that i want to play lol

I'm getting some cool stuff from the store now ( I have that nice firey sword that's on the wall en route to the weapons store) but like you have no armor drops yet (other than one lousy helm) some folks have lots. I'm not sure if there is a secret to getting these or whether your class/dying/level/money you own/luck/runes help?

i have one idea that im going to try...if you buy all the runes in the store they restock them...with different ones so im guessing they also restock the armour right? so i was thinking that for example if you wanted the Elite/Epic boots...the weapon shop sells weapons so shouldnt the armour shop sell elite/epic armour? so maybe if liek i said you wanted the boots...if you buy all the boots in the store then just salvage them and get some money back the store will restock and maybe eventually it will restock with an elite item...just an idea i had but im going to try and see if it works

When in Equipment Screen i try using LB, but nothing seems to happen any reason why this isn't working?(I'm looking at the Armor page) I got it to work once but i haven't got it to work since. I have tried doing it in Town and in one of the levels.

It's not luck at all. There's some things stat tracking in the game behind the scenes. It's about your token tally as far as I can tell.

Tokens are the game's checkpoints. If you go to the stats screen you can see a list of them. If a token is faded and you pass the required checkpoint then it becomes lit. If you then replay the same level after beating the boss, they reset. You can fill them in by playing sections of the levels.

I believe that replaying levels might mess up the order of things. I think what needs to be done is you fill all of the checkpoint (in any order you choose) and then once they are all lit up. You try again. This could explain why replaying the same level over and over isn't netting gamers the rewards they are after other than weapons drops.

QUOTE (Rob Cram @ Sep 1 2008, 12:53 PM) *
I finally today got 1000/1000 on this game. I guess what's left is to take a break and then try another class!

Grats on your 1000/1000!! I'm at 850 and currently doing a cybernetic run through as a beserker. I dont really care for the cybernetic tree as much though. I think my new favorite class is defender although the beserker can really tear things up =) I think after i get the cybernetic unlocked achievements I will go back to my champ and try this whole Armor set achievement thing.

So with 1000/1000 what is your total playtime?? Any good tips you migth have left out for get the elite armor set or did you trade for some or do you think its all luck? I had a red helm for level 19 on my first runthrough of the game from the well that opens the secret door after the first cut scene with Hode. Later on i got a level 37 red experimental rifle from the glowing thingy out on the landing dock after completing the Ice forest. I know that had to be luck though lol.

What has worked the best for me, is Loot Drop runes... I have one placed one on every piece of armor, and I have picked up 4 Red armor blueprints... This is also a great way to get more Loot to sell for Bounty... The red Weapons I have I bought from the Weapons store...

You can only cap the loot runes at 15% so that usually means about 3 or 4 of them equipped - depending on the value. These help but are no guarantee.
